Color Theory 101: selecting yarns that go together A lot of patterns going around at the moment feature stripes: two or three colors that go together perfectly. You could follow the colors suggested in the pattern sample… but you want to try something a little different. But how in the world do you pick a colors that go together? Color theory. That’s how! Most yarn lines contain a wide range of of colors. Neat Ripple Pattern Ahhhhhhhh look at all those hooky ripplesome ripples, aren't they glorious? I love crocheting this pattern, its relatively simple, rhythmic and soothing, but playing with colours in this way is also energising, exciting and a lot of fun. Well to me it is any road. there's something magical and mesmerising about the way the ripple effect makes the colours sing and dance next to each other, and it's a pattern I can see myself coming back to time after time.

Springtime Wreath This is my design for a little Springtime Crocheted Wreath. The pattern/tutorial that I'm writing out here is for the circular green part of the wreath, and the general putting together of the whole thing :: you can use whatever flowers you like to adorn it with (the flowers I've used here are my Little Picot Flowers, pattern found here). I've hooked my wreath on a 4mm hook, using Rowan handknit DK cotton. The wreath measures approx 15 cm/6 inches across. Sliding loop : an easy way to begin granny square! The double sliding loop is my favorite way to begin a granny square. I find this method fabulous as I can make the beginning ring the size I want. I worked it with a double ring as I find it more safe and easier to weave in end the tails.
