Blendspace - Create lessons with digital content in 5 minutes Make mobile learning awesome! Student creation Share materials Free! Get our new app! Save time by using free lessons & activities created by educators worldwide! About Us PortfolioGen started as a project between two dedicated teachers from New Jersey. We were looking for way to create an online presence that would allow us to share our skills and achievements with our peers and administrators. Sure, there were options available to build webpages and share documents but nothing that gave the features, customization and simplicity that we were looking for. At first, this was a very basic site that we both used for our academic advancement but soon grew into a labor of love and pride as we noticed more and more people inquiring about the site, sending positive feedback and offering up suggestions. We quickly embraced the idea of building a great product that our users find a valuable resource.

A Beautiful Visual Explanation of Hashtags March 6, 2015 Hashtags are social networking phenomena par excellence. They originated in Twitter a around 2008 and since then they adopted and integrated into many other popular social platforms such as Facebook, Google Plus, and Instagram. We have already shared several posts covering the educational potential of hashtags, most popular among them all is teachers’ simple guide on the use of hashtags. Today we are sharing with you this beautiful visual we discovered through a tweet from Tom D’Amico. This visual, which is created by Quick Sprout and initially shared on The Seen, provides a very good explanation of what the concept of hashtaging is all about and how it works in different social media websites such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Google Plus. We invite you to have a look and as always share with us what you think of this work.

App Packs for Education - Chrome for Work and Education Help As of February, 2015, App Packs for Education are no longer available. Please use Google Play for Education, where you can find Chrome web apps curated for schools students by grade level and subject. Many teachers deploying Chrome and Chrome Devices for Education want to force install or recommend Chrome web apps on their students' devices. However, given the thousands of Chrome web apps available, it's not always apparent which ones are the best for your class. Google has created Chrome App Packs, which are groups of popular applications from the Chrome Web Store that are tailored to meet students' needs. These curated apps save teachers time, offer discounts for bulk app purchases, and help teachers find the best apps by category and grade level.

ePortfolios with GoogleApps This Google Site has been set up by Dr. Helen Barrett to focus on the use of Google Apps to create ePortfolios. On this site, there are instructions on how to use the different elements of Google Apps to maintain e-portfolios. Are you a K-12 educator wanting to use Google products with your students? I recommend that you don't set up "regular" public Google accounts for them... instead, set up a GoogleApps for Education domain where you can enroll your students and control access. Background Velcro®, an engineered crop, consists of two distinct strains: hooks and loops. As any user of Velcro knows, a strip of hooks clings to a strip of loops as the springy hook-shaped fibers latch through tiny but firm loops. Gentle pressure allows the hook strip to be pulled from the loop strip.

Five-Minute Film Festival: 8 Interactive Video Tools for Engaging Learners It's no secret that I am a passionate advocate for using video in the classroom.
