The Internet Will Get a Peer Review Layer Next Year

A project lead by some of the most-respected leaders of the Internet has secured $240,000 in funding to build a prototype system for both expert and peer review of all the content on the web, sentence by sentence. Called Hypothes.is, the project is lead by early search engine innovator and climate change activist Dan Whaley and backed by advisors from John Perry Barlow of the EFF to Garret Camp of StumbleUpon to Kaliya Hamlin of the Internet Identity Workshop to Nate Oostendorp of Slashdot, and many more. We wrote about the Hypothes.is fundraising effort on Kickstarter last month.

Khan Academy

I agree. Salman Khan is a great teacher. Particularly good at motivating students, showing them that math is not that hard and can even be a lot of fun. My daughter (16 years old) really loves these videos and feels she's learning much better this way than at school. No problem letting the school do the "accreditation" and secondary support. The important part is understanding the concepts and techniques, and that's where Khan shines. by tchoi Jul 5
