The eight-circuit model of consciousness (sometimes capitalized) is a theory in psychology , first proposed by Timothy Leary . It consists of several quantum psychological systems that unify the various interpretations of the main altered states of consciousness into one coherent meta-theory. The most basic part describes, in a simple outline, eight circuits of information (colloquially "brains") that operate within the human nervous system. Leary, Robert Anton Wilson and Antero Alli have all written about each circuit in depth and how each operates in the lives of human beings, both individually and collectively.

The History In the 1920s, the idea of personality type was being explored by leading scientists and philosophers. A Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung, wrote Psychological Types during that time, in which he gave a detailed description of what has now become one of the most widely used typologies in the world. In the 1940s, Isabel Myers began developing a self-report questionnaire—the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® instrument—that could help people find where they fit in Jung's theory.

Socionics ( Lithuanian : socionika , Russian : соционика ), in psychology, is a hypothesis of information processing and personality type , distinguished by its information model of the psyche (called Model A ) and a model of interpersonal relations. It incorporates Carl Jung 's work on Psychological Types with Antoni Kępiński 's theory of information metabolism . Socionics is a modification of Jung's personality type theory that uses eight psychic functions, in contrast to Jung's model, which used only four. These functions process information at varying levels of competency and interact with the corresponding function in other individuals, giving rise to predictable reactions and impressions—a theory of intertype relations .
