Rat Poison Primer - Types and Toxicities

Traditionally these were anticoagulant toxins, such as warfarin. Today, newer generation rodenticides are more potent and without the readily available antidote available for the anticoagulants. Types of Rat Poisons: Anticoagulants, Bromethalin, Vitamin D3, Phosphides Anticoagulants Examples: warfarin, brodifacoum, bromadiolone This class of toxins interfere with the body’s clotting mechanisms and cause bleeding, usually internally. Clinical signs may include: Lethargy Pale gums Coughing or trouble breathing Bleeding from the nose, mouth Bloody diarrhea or urine One “good” thing about poisoning from this class of rodenticides is that there is an antidote (something to counteract the poison).

Chicken & Animal Pens; Use Fire To Prevent Disease

Fire can be your friend, preventing diseases from occurring year after year. As I was out burning my own chicken pens I realized that no everyone understands the importance of fire in the relationship to keeping animal pens healthy. Water cleans, fire cleanses. Everything about fire is beneficial The heat, ash, even the time it takes to burn is all relevant to cleansing the earth under it.

Before man learned to work the land and avoid such things as fire, nature used it once a year to do her own spring cleaning. Problems like hoof-rot, coccidiosis in chickens and even ammonia are less common, if ever known at all, in an animal that is allowed to choose his own space. When cleansing chicken pens and animal pens, remove the animals, then rake up what you can and use it in your garden.

Nothing has better ash then leaves. You want it to burn slowly and naturally. Gypsy's Wanderings Homestead Blog. Obama Seizes Control Of All US Farms, Food, Livestock, Equipment & Fertilizer. (NaturalNews) "We told ya so" just doesn't quite cut it anymore.

The power to seize control and take over these resources is delegated to the following government authorities: Farm Animals Guide To Raising Livestock: Feeding, Housing, Diseases. Feeding Roots To Animals

During research for the book, I was fascinated to learn that the popularization of turnips spurred a culinary revolution during the Middle Ages because the roots provided enough supplemental feed to carry cows, pigs, and other animals through the cold months. Previously, farmers had to dry off dairy animals and slaughter all but the breeding stock among meat breeds as soon as cold weather hit since there wasn't enough grass to bring their animals through the winter.
