History of fashion design

The modern industry, based around firms or fashion houses run by individual designers, started in the 19th century with Charles Frederick Worth who was the first designer to have his label sewn into the garments that he created. Couture beginnings[edit] Rose Bertin (July 2, 1747-September 22, 1813) was the dressmaker to Marie Antoinette, Queen of France, and a figure who may be said to have begun the transition from relatively little-known dressmakers to designers with a high public profile. Sometimes called sarcastically the "Minister of Fashion", she opened a shop in Paris and had a considerable influence on Parisian style, until this was drastically changed by the French Revolution, from which she fled into exile in London for some years. " Featuring rounded shoulders, a cinched waist, and very full skirt, the New Look celebrated ultra-femininity and opulence in women's fashion. After years of military and civilian uniforms, sartorial restrictions and shortages, Dior offered not merely a new look but a new outlook. Born and raised in Normandy, France, Dior moved with his parents to Paris when he was ten. Dior helped to restore a beleaguered postwar Paris as the capital of fashion. Open this up, it's a huge picture Here’s the very much fun part, right off the bat..you enter the room and you look at the models and they are moving – well the faces and eyes are moving, but are they are they real models or not, you can’t really tell.

Is it real? OK – that takes care of the special effects, however the show doesn’t stop with that. The intricate work on this gown is beyond compare. Top 10 Fashion Moments in Film.
