Tech Biz Chinese Scientists Are 3D Printing Ears and Livers – With Living Tissue

Researchers in China have been able to successfully print human organs using specialized 3D printers that use living cells instead of plastic. Researchers at Hangzhou Dianzi University actually went as far as inventing their own 3D printer for the complex task, dubbed the “Regenovo.” “Xu Mingen, Regenovo's developer, said that it takes the printer under an hour to produce either a mini liver sample or a four to five inch ear cartilage sample. Xu also predicted that fully functional printed organs may be possible within the next ten to twenty years,” stated 3D Printer World. According to Xu, the Regenovo can print in a sterilized environment with temperatures ranging between 23 and 500 degrees Fahrenheit.

Xu admits that the science fiction-inspired body part printer is still in its infancy, with much fine-tuning needed to realize the Regenovo’s full potential. Here is a video of Dr. Organovo. Formlabs. RepRapWiki. TEDxEWB Talk: Adrian Bowyer at Imperial College, London, introduces RepRap RepRap is humanity's first general-purpose self-replicating manufacturing machine.

RepRapWiki

RepRap takes the form of a free desktop 3D printer capable of printing plastic objects. Since many parts of RepRap are made from plastic and RepRap prints those parts, RepRap self-replicates by making a kit of itself - a kit that anyone can assemble given time and materials. It also means that - if you've got a RepRap - you can print lots of useful stuff, and you can print another RepRap for a friend...

RepRap is about making self-replicating machines, and making them freely available for the benefit of everyone. Reprap.org is a community project, which means you are welcome to edit most pages on this site, or better yet, create new pages of your own. Gorgé. Sculpteo. MakerBot. CNC & 3D Printing. Already at the age of 12 I was dreaming of making a machine which could make things!

Building your own CNC router/milling machine

A machine which would give me the opportunity to create products for in and around the house. Two years later I stumbled ont the words 'Computer Numerical Control' or more specifically the CNC milling machine. After I found out people were able to build one themselves in their own shed, I knew it! I had to build one, I yearned to have it!! For three months I tried to find the proper parts (A dremeltool, drawer slides, pieces of wood, etc.), but I didn't really know how to build a CNC. In August 2013 the idea to build a CNC milling machine captivated me again. This Instructable will show you how I built my CNC milling machine. 3D Printing Umbilical Cord Clamps in Haiti.
