http://heidicohen.com/fortune-500-ceos-dont-get-social-media-research/ 70% of the Fortune 500 CEOs have no presence on social media networks according to The 2012 Fortune 500 Social CEO Index compiled by CEO.com and Domo. Despite being influential business leaders, these CEOs lag the US population on every social media platform except LinkedIn. These CEOs myopically miss the connection between their lack of social media activity and their standing with customers, employees and the general pubic. Social CEOs by the numbers Here are some notable tidbits from the 2012 Fortune 500 Social CEO Index.

Fortune 500 CEOs Don’t Get Social Media! [Research

Abstract Flanked objects are difficult to identify using peripheral vision due to visual crowding, which limits conscious access to target identity. Nonetheless, certain types of visual information have been shown to survive crowding. Such resilience to crowding provides valuable information about the underlying neural mechanism of crowding. Here we ask whether illusory contour formation survives crowding of the inducers. We manipulated the presence of illusory contours through the (mis)alignment of the four inducers of a Kanizsa square. http://www.journalofvision.org/content/12/6/15.abstract?etoc

$1 Billion Isn’t Cool. You Know What’s Cool? $50 Billion. Goldman And Facebook Agree.

While everyone has been busy wondering when Facebook was going to IPO, most were looking past the first question: how is Facebook going to IPO? But not TechCrunch alum Evelyn Rusli and Andrew Ross Sorkin. Tonight the pair are reporting that Goldman Sachs has just led a major new investment in the social network.

There is something you should know about WordPress' standard search feature - it is awful . For anything more than the most basic of blogs, it is extremely limited. It sorts results by reverse chronological order (rather than by relevance), and shows by default the first 55 characters of a page or post (rather than a relevant excerpt). This is a big problem for any WordPress blogger, because people are used to finding things by searching. Navigation elements are all well and good, but many people will never go near a category link or a tag.

4 ways to transform your employees into social-media marketers

Arguably the hardest part of leveraging the power of social media is generating an initial swell of activity. Every day, we read fantastic case studies of companies who tap their biggest fans to help generate quality word-of-mouth. While there’s no question that customers are one of the most effective assets in social-media marketing, companies of all shapes and sizes often overlook their built-in social network: their employees. A recent Forrester study indicates that tech-savvy employees who are equipped with information are more likely to advocate on their company’s behalf. Consequently, it is the responsibility of today’s marketer to arm their colleagues with the tools and messages to enable word-of-mouth. http://smartblogs.com/social-media/2010/12/22/4-ways-to-transform-your-employees-into-social-media-marketers/

http://www.orgnet.com/sna.html Social network analysis [SNA] is the mapping and measuring of relationships and flows between people, groups, organizations, computers, URLs, and other connected information/knowledge entities. The nodes in the network are the people and groups while the links show relationships or flows between the nodes. SNA provides both a visual and a mathematical analysis of human relationships.

http://www.briansolis.com/2012/02/brands-face-stream-fatigue-as-consumers-look-beyond-gimmicks-in-social-networks/ Part of an unpublished appendix for The End of Business as Usual … The mystique of Twitter, Facebook and Google+ causes a momentary lapse of reason where businesses are surprisingly acting first and addressing “the why” at a later point in time, if at all. Without careful consideration and strategy, a great wave of stream fatigue, social blindness or far worse, customer unlikes and unfollows in will befall unsuspecting businesses en masse in social media. It will come down to a vital, but fixable disconnect. Businesses are interacting with consumers to socialize rather than learn about customer expectations to in turn, deliver tangible value, improve product experiences, and invest in long-term relationships.

Timebanking is a means of exchange used to organise people and organisations around a purpose, where time is the principal currency. For every hour participants ‘deposit’ in a timebank, perhaps by giving practical help and support to others, they are able to ‘withdraw’ equivalent support in time when they themselves are in need. In each case the participant decides what they can offer.
