Take A Plant, Leaf A Plant – find out farms

We had big plans to host a farm and garden swap back in April 2020, but we all know how that played out. So when we learned about what has become a growing phenomenon, we were delighted. Essentially folks have been hosting a giant dispersed plant and seed swap all over the region. It's a decentralized, DIY movement created by people that love plants and love sharing. We're also a fan of the punny title. New Blood Test Accurately Predicts Which COVID-19 Patients Will Develop Severe Infection. Test could inform doctors on best treatment options.

New Blood Test Accurately Predicts Which COVID-19 Patients Will Develop Severe Infection

Scientists have developed, for the first time, a score that can accurately predict which patients will develop a severe form of Covid-19. The study, led by researchers at RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, is published in The Lancet’s translational research journal EBioMedicine. The measurement, called the Dublin-Boston score, is designed to enable clinicians to make more informed decisions when identifying patients who may benefit from therapies, such as steroids, and admission to intensive care units.

Until this study, no Covid-19-specific prognostic scores were available to guide clinical decision-making. The Dublin-Boston score can now accurately predict how severe the infection will be on day seven after measuring the patient’s blood for the first four days. 5 Principles for Making Digital Healthcare More Human-Centered

From a human-centered design perspective, it made more sense to eliminate the color screen and use users’ smartphones or computers instead. The meter’s color screen was adding unnecessary cost without contributing enough benefit in return. By focusing on the outcome rather than the solution, we were able to spot our own blindspot. Governments should use their fiscal capacity to ensure our youth always can find a job – Bill Mitchell

Not much media coverage is given to that cohort in this context. But as our societies age and require our younger workers to be more productive than their parents to maintain material living standards (even though we should be reappraising what is an environmentally feasible benchmark to maintain), how we deal with school-to-work transitions, vocational training, university education is a major issue. The fact that governments all around the world have been prepared to impose massive costs on the younger generation as they obsessively pursue fiscal surpluses is one of the scandals of the period and will have long-term consequences for society. In the 2016 edition of the OECD publication – Society at a Glance 2016 – we learned that: Fifteen percent of the OECD youth population were not in employment, education or training (NEET) in 2015 – about 40 million young people. Lemmon Holdings, the billionaire spent $80 million to purchase more than 24,000 acres of land with plans to build a smart city, which will include housing, schools, offices and retail. Since the purchase, there has been limited information on the development of the project. “In November 2017 the media reported that a company associated with Bill Gates purchased 24,800 acres in the Southern Valley between Buckeye and Tonopah for $80 million,” James DeCremer, principal at Avison Young in Phoenix, tells GlobeSt.com.

Remove Barriers to Startup Capital: Democratize Accreditation

Under the SEC’s Regulation D, “accredited investors” must meet established thresholds for income ($200K per year individually or $300K for couples) and/or net worth ($1MM, excluding personal residence). Through this definition, both founders and funders face separate and unequal access to startup offering and investment opportunities. The reality, however, is that most Americans want to give up the grind by their early 60s.

Another overriding reality: it will be harder and harder to retire before age 70, especially for those in the millennial generation who started careers in the wake of the recession, a period of stagnant wage growth. Add to that record student loan debt, astronomical rents and escalating out-of-pocket costs for health insurance.

The critical systems we rely on nationwide endure chronic overuse and underinvestment, including our stormwater management systems. An estimated 10 trillion gallons of untreated stormwater runoff, containing everything from raw sewage to trash to toxins, enters U.S. waterways from city sewer systems every year, polluting the environment and drinking water supplies.

In many urban and suburban areas, this runoff causes significant flooding as well. Not surprisingly, in 2017 the American Society of Civil Engineers bestowed a lowly D+ grade on U.S. stormwater and sewage systems. The country’s urgent infrastructure needs also present a major opportunity. Cube 2 prefab tiny smart home with AI assistant for sale Singapore.
