Magic Spike Mandala by Tamara Kelly. Petals and Puffs Mandala. Hello Lovelies, I'm so happy to be sharing this latest pattern with you all.

Petals and Puffs Mandala

Thank you for all your kind comments on the inspiration for this project HERE. So, without further waffle.....here is my " Petals and Puffs Mandala". Ta-Dah........... I'm really thrilled with how this pattern has worked out and I love the texture that the puff stitches add to the design If the idea of attempting this crochet stitch is a bit daunting please don't be put off. It's taken me a while to write, test and publish this tutorial as there's lots to think about explaining clearly, I've also written out the pattern in both U.S. and U.K. terms at the end of this post for you lovelies.

But first the Tutorial....... ........written in my usual format.....U.S. terms. Here is a list of the abbreviations used and a handy conversion guide for U.K. terms.......... sc= single crochet................................U.K. double crochet hdc = half double crochet..................U.K. half treble crochet Chain 4........ round 1. Sophie's Mandala by Dedri Uys. This pattern is for the large version of Sophie’s Mandala.

You can find a written-only pattern, as well as a step-by-step photo tutorial, on my website. The first 6 rounds of this Mandala were heavily inspired by Chris Simon’s Lace Petals Square, and I would like to thank her for allowing me to use it in these mandala patterns. The large version of this Mandala is 16.5” (42 cm) in diameter. Although the pattern is written for worsted weight yarn, you can just as easily use light worsted weight instead. For the example in the first photo I have used 2 strands of Stylecraft Special DK and a 5.5 mm hook (US 9/I UK 5).
