Qualheim 1996, 2016 This is a little tricky (at first) so I have added a few photos that should help. It makes a lovely square for afghans, (even make just one to cover a little doll in BEV'S CRADLE PURSE), shawls, lapgans, purses...! The possibilities are endless! The original pattern was not my design but was one I adapted to be more easily understood, from an old pattern. Each square is approximately 6" square and for an Adult Afghan you will need about 10 across and 12 down = 120 squares (60" x 96") For kids blanket you will need 6 across and 8 down = 48 squares (36" x 48")Materials for adult blanket: Size H crochet hook I used Carron 'Simply Soft" worsted weight yarn-- 6 oz skeins. 6 skeins white, 2 skeins each of light blue, light pink, light yellow, and light green (I had some let over yarn, but I never mind that, as I make mittens and baby hats from it.)

Regular Crochet Linen Stitch Square ⋆ Look At What I Made

It was made using two-colour linen stitch squares, the instructions for which were specifically adapted to eliminate all but 4 tails of yarn. This week I am going to share the pattern for the regular linen stitch square with you. Yes, I am aware of the fact that I have still used only 2 colours per square, but with these instructions you can change colours as little or as often as you like, using as many colours as your heart desires!

I’m so glad to have this pattern ready to show you. It’s a pretty little flower motif design named after my sweet granddaughter Taanvi. I’ve added instructions and lots of step-by-step photos to guide you through making the motifs, joining as you go, and adding filler motifs in between if you want to use this motif to make a blanket, cushion cover, or something else you dream up! This motif is so much fun to make in happy yarn colors.

I’m honored to be a part of such an event as this, and hope you’ll check out the CAL. The year is almost done, but it’s never to late to join in the fun. Although I’ve played around with several 12″ afghan square designs, this is my very first pattern that I’ve completed. Maybe it’s just me, but I find them a bit harder to design. As for the square, you can see I crocheted it up in a slight color variation, so feel free to stray from the pattern and do your own sequence that you and your family will enjoy. The example above was made using 2 strands of Stylecraft Special Dk and a 5.5 mm hook. You can now find a list of the colours I used HERE. Although this is not officially part of the Block a Week CAL 2014, I know there are a few ladies who are wanting to incorporate this square into their blankets. If you wish to do so, remember to use the same hook and yarn as for the rest of your squares and it will come out the same size as 4 of the other squares.
