Party Favor: Bath Tea
When I had the pleasure of planning my best friend’s bridal shower last year, I was searching for the perfect favor for our guests to go home with. The theme was a bridal tea, full of tasty sandwiches, mini desserts, tea cups and saucers. I thought about various options for the favor, but many seemed a waste, something that would probably get a smile and then unfortunately be thrown away or placed on a shelf never to be thought of again. After searching for ideas, I came across various companies who sell Bath Tea, lovely little bags of herbs, salt and oatmeal with the purpose to relax or invigorate, depending on the blend. I was sold!
Wedding Washcloths
When we got married, my husband and I didn't register for gifts. We were young and naive and just felt kind of weird asking people to give us stuff. So instead of gravy boats and champagne glasses, we got lots of funky and surprising things, like these salt and pepper shakers. They came from my wonderful Aunt Rosemary who collects vintage treasures wherever she goes.

As promised, here is my pattern for the Basic Granny Square. I didn’t invent this pattern in the slightest, (obviously) but I’m going to show you step by step how to make the basic granny square. When I started to learn I couldn’t find a pattern that I could understand easily and so I hope to change that by doing one with lots of pictures :-) This is the pattern I used to make the squares for the Granny Alice blanket (above). For this pattern, you will need to know how to chain stitch, and how to make a UK treble (TR) stitch.

Kool-Aid Dyed Playsilks – Tried and True
A couple months ago I came upon a tutorial on The Artful Parent for Kool-Aid Dyed Playsilks. I hadn’t really heard about playsilks before that but upon further investigation found out that they’re awesome. They can be pretty much anything your child wants them to be: capes, dresses, blankets, scenery, tents and the list goes on and on. So, seven of us got together with our seven toddlers (all under 2 years) and dyed 42 playsilks in total.
