Using Floor Generator Script by Bertrand Benoit In this how-to article Bertrand describes in detail the way he uses the Floor Generator Script using the GH House model as an example. Check Bertrand’s full GH House making of article for more information about his work. Back in the old days, I always struggled to create hardwood parquet floors that would work in any situation. Vectory Diary - High Quality Patterns The use of patterns in art and design projects are varied and well known. There are many sources from where you can find free raster or bitmap patterns, but there are not much when it comes to good high quality free vector patterns. So, in this post, we have listed a compilation of good quality and useful free illustrator vector patterns for download. Revit is not Sketchup Lately, I have been hearing a lot of people ask, “Why are we still using SketchUp when we have Revit and it can do the same thing?” To understand this issue more, we need to look at each software platform and its inherent capabilities. SketchUp is essentially a down-and-dirty digital sketch program. It’s light and nimble and the user interface is very simplistic and straightforward. Everything about SketchUp is designed for quick creativity. After only a few hours of training, most designers (and most children for that matter) are up and running.
Autodesk: Photoshop post production tutorial The following step-by-step tutorial will guide users through the intricacies of setting up a 3ds max to render high resolution images and prepare the render elements for post-production in Photoshop. The subsequent step is to use the adjustment layers and the render elements in Photoshop to control/enhance the display of numerous objects in the scene. Users will also be shown how to add people in post, realistically, in order to create a sense of scale, and tell the story of the design. Finally, users will be taken through the unique process of making an image “Pop” whilst using key adjustment layers and Photoshop filters. First, increase the render Output Size to 3500x4379, or higher. While most post production companies often render to 6000 pixels or above, 3500 pixels is good enough for the purpose of this tutorial.
Wood patterns for CAD and SketchUp modeling Weekend With WOOD is back for 2014! One attendee of last year's Weekend With WOOD caught me between classes to thank the WOOD staff for planning and hosting the event. He told me how much he learned during the class sessions, how he enjoyed meeting the world-class teachers and fellow attendees, and more. As we talked, I could see tears welling up in his eyes as he told me, "Dave, this weekend has been life-changing for me." Wow. " Weekend With WOOD " is a three-day educational seminar that will be held May 16-18, 2014, at WOOD 's world headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa—the very place where every project design in WOOD magazine is tested and built.
Favorite Architectural Cutout and Texture Resources Architecture visualization can consume a lot of resources and time if you’re not careful. With the tediousness of Photoshop and renderings calculating through the night, spending more that 20 minutes searching Google images for a specific texture or image can become a breaking point for many. Any way to save time in this field is a big advantage, especially in school. Mayang's Free Texture Library Buy Every Texture Buy every texture on this website for only $33. Sketchup to Revit So I got asked the question how do I take a sketchup model and turn it into a Revit file? To back up the first question I would ask is really? Because you can model everything in Revit much more accurately, and very quickly as well as keep Revit your primary modeling software that you're using for the job. Secondly, Sketchup is generally used for pretty pictures, easy graphics and 3d manipulation so for the most part I model in Revit and then export to Sketchup to make my pretty pictures...However, I can show you how to send it to either program either way. From Revit to Sketchup:Open your 3D view File menuExport -> CAD FormatsClick on the Options...Specify under Solids (3d Views Only):

Understanding Reference Planes and Work Planes When I asked student’s “What was the most difficult part of Revit to understand” the answer nine out of ten was “Reference Planes vs Work Planes”. To further continue building families we first need to understand a bit of Revit’s terminologies, i.e. Reference Planes, Reference Lines and Work Planes. Plugins planet Time flies when you are having fun! It seems like only yesterday that I was writing about the 14th Hackfest in Gran Canaria. At the end of May 2016, we held the 15th QGIS hackfest! QGIS has been on an incredible journey since the project was started by Gary Sherman 14 years ago, and the fact that the hackfest was held in tandem with the 2nd QGIS International User conference is a testament to the growth and strength of the project. 2nd International QGIS Conference Isn’t it amazing – we just held the second international QGIS User’s Conference!
