The Chicago Manual of Style Online: Chicago-Style Citation Quick Guide The Chicago Manual of Style presents two basic documentation systems: (1) notes and bibliography and (2) author-date. Choosing between the two often depends on subject matter and the nature of sources cited, as each system is favored by different groups of scholars. The notes and bibliography style is preferred by many in the humanities, including those in literature, history, and the arts. This style presents bibliographic information in notes and, often, a bibliography. It accommodates a variety of sources, including esoteric ones less appropriate to the author-date system. How to Cite the U.S. Constitution in APA Style by Chelsea Lee “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union....” —U.S. Constitution, pmbl. Flipped-Learning Toolkit: Let's Talk Tech Editor's Note:This post was co-authored by Aaron Sams, Managing Director of FlippedClass.com and founding member of the Flipped Learning Network. The greatest benefit of flipped learning is the restructuring of class time, which is more of a pedagogical solution than a technological solution. However, the in-class benefit is dependent upon the utilization of technology tools. So what technologies are necessary in a flipped classroom? Content Creation Tools One of the most difficult challenges for some teachers to overcome is the mastery of a content creation tool.

Comparing MLA and APA: Citing Resources By David Becker Last week, we touched on the general differences between MLA and APA styles. Today, I talk about what is probably the biggest difference between the two styles: how to cite resources. These divergent rules can make transitioning from one style to the other a frustrating process, particularly for students. A few style errors can mean the difference between an A and a B on a paper. As an English major who only used MLA Style in school, learned APA Style for my job, and then relearned MLA Style for a few online courses, I can personally attest to the difficulty of mentally juggling two sets of style rules.

Introducing the newest member of our family, the YouTube Kids app Like most parents, I love helping my kids learn more about something they're interested in. For example, right now, I spend a lot of time on YouTube with my 3-year-old son, who loves watching videos of car washes, Super Simple Songs, and about the universe. We’re not the only ones: Families worldwide are watching millions of videos on YouTube. And lately, those of us at YouTube have been working on a new way for our kids—and yours—to discover and explore videos on every topic in, well, the universe. Today, we’re introducing the YouTube Kids app, the first Google product built from the ground up with little ones in mind. The app makes it safer and easier for children to find videos on topics they want to explore, and is available for free on Google Play and the App Store in the U.S.

Research Designs in Education Bentz and Shapiro (1998) in the chapter five (“The Scholarly Practice – Facing the Loss of Identity through the Onslaught of the Information Age”) suggest scholarly practitioners to accomplish their research project with good groundwork. The researcher’s role involves “using professional practice and knowledge as a resource for the formulation and production of scholarly practice and knowledge as well as for evaluating, testing, applying, extending, or modifying existing knowledge” (p. 66). Because of debates and controversies surrounding the knowledge crisis, researchers must justify their choices. The authors’ pedagogical strategy trains practitioners to actively engage in the critical evaluation of their activities throughout their research project. Professionals and scholars should create outlines of research traditions that are relevant to their projects.
