Creamy Macaroni and Cheese

Creamy Macaroni and Cheese
A creamy macaroni and cheese recipe that will satisfy both young and old made with Kerrygold cheese and butter from grass-fed cows. This mac and cheese reheats beautifully the next day with just a bit of milk or cream stirred in. Ole pointed out a few weeks ago that our children were growing up with a different food experience than either one of us had. Things like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, mac and cheese lunches and daily desserts are not the norm over here. Rather than growing up on lunches made from blue boxes and smeared on sandwich bread, our kids are generally dining on leftover fried rice, sandwiches made from leftover meat and a variety of soups and pastas, which do, in fact, include macaroni and cheese every so often. So, when our Costco recently started stocking their shelves with Kerrygold products, I felt inclined to share one of my favorite macaroni and cheese recipes with you. The secret to this mac and cheese is in the farmhouse cheese that goes into the sauce.

Bang Bang Shrimp Time for another delicious football snack! This one would be good for a nice dinner too though! So this is supposed to be like the Bonefish dish with the same name but I’ve never had the dish so I can’t really say how close it is to the real thing. I can, however, say that it is amazing. Not going to lie, it was quite a bit of work because you have to deep fry the shrimp but seriously worth all the time spent staring into the pot of oil. It’s spicy but not so spicy that your mouth is on fire. How to Draw with Chocolate I love to draw. I also love Chocolate. So the other day I decided to combine the two. “Chocolate and drawing? This should be interesting”, I thought. Let’s draw!

Homemade Corn Dogs With Independence Day falling on a Monday this year, there’s going to be a lot of celebrating over the weekend. If you dance around the foodie blogosphere, you’ll find lots and lots of sweet 4th of July treats out there to choose from, and yes, I’ll be posting one or two as well, but today I wanted to post something a little more savory. Most people like to grill out to celebrate the Fourth, but sometimes it’s too rainy, or maybe even too cold (after my time in Minnesota, I definitely believe it’s possible to have a cold 4th of July). Obviously, you can still make the requisite burgers and dogs, but why not have something a little more fun and a little more impressive, for hardly any extra work? Homemade corn dogs are a regular at my house. I made them the first time several years ago after reading the label on the store bought, frozen kind.

Blackened Seafood Pasta This is one of those dishes that originated in one of our favorite restaurants—actually the restaurant where my husband and I met—and made it’s way to our at-home dinner table. It’s one that is so good, you figure out what that special thing is that makes it so craveable and it becomes part of your family foodie vernacular. Blackened Seafood Pasta. It’s what’s for dinner. I didn’t officially get to eat this dinner when we worked at the restaurant we attribute it to.

Pizza Nacho Recipe We love watching football at our house. We don’t always cheer for the same team, but that’s ok…as long as my team wins..ha! Caleb is already getting in on the action too. Every time he sees a football game on TV he yells ball. He also throws his hands up in the air, making the touchdown sign, and yells Ta-down. He doesn’t quite have the entire word mastered yet:) good for you breakfast loaf « Haute Box March 23, 2011 by allison n Raise your hand if you enjoy a warm slice chunk of quick bread in the morning or as a snack? Maybe it’s banana nut bread, blueberry bread, cinnamon swirl bread or pumpkin chocolate chip bread. My sweet tooth is growing just typing this. Here’s the buzz-kill….quick breads are notorious for being unhealthy…full of fat and sugar.

san francisco garlic fries Well folks, not much going on this week. I’m still 800 million degrees, which I guess is normal if you’re a human incubator. I’ve become a stretchy, elastic waisted pants spokesperson, because ohmygah maternity jeans are the most incredible thing I have ever worn, excepting for the sweat pants I model almost daily. (Seriously, they need to make jeans this comfortable for non-knocked up folks.) One-Pot Pasta Primavera Recipe I’m totally a sucker for one-pot meals. I mean, fewer dishes? Less fuss and muss (whatever “muss” is)?

Crock Pot Chicken Chili Con Queso How was your long weekend? Mine was extremely busy with painting our house’s trim, entertaining and kids. But it was great and the weather helped.:) Amongst all the cooking I got done during the weekend, was this fragrant, creamy and cheesy Crock Pot Chicken Chili Con Queso – a hybrid of chicken chili and famous Tex Mex cheesy dip known as Chile Con Queso. Just to make sure we are on the same page, this recipe is not a dip.
