A SAGI é a Secretaria do Ministério do Desenvolvimento Social e Combate à Fome responsável pelas ações de avaliação, monitoramento, gestão da informação e capacitação das políticas e programas do Ministério e do Plano Brasil sem Miséria. Por meio de pesquisas de avaliação, ferramentas informacionais e painéis de monitoramento, a SAGI subsidia técnicos e gestores para a tomada de decisão e aperfeiçoamento de suas atividades. Cursos de capacitação, eventos e outras estratégias de disseminação voltados para a qualificação da gestão também são desenvolvidos pela Secretaria. Abordagem multidisciplinar e uso conjugado de diferentes técnicas de levantamento, organização e análise de informações permitem ao MDS conhecer melhor o público-alvo de suas políticas, a lógica de intervenção de seus programas, os problemas e boas práticas de implantação de suas ações e, naturalmente, os resultados e impactos do esforço governamental na área.

WASHINGTON, February 29, 2012—In every region of the developing world, the percentage of people living on less than $1.25 a day and the number of poor declined between 2005-2008, according to estimates released today by the World Bank. This across-the-board reduction over a three-year monitoring cycle marks a first since the Bank began monitoring extreme poverty. An estimated 1.29 billion people in 2008 lived below $1.25 a day, equivalent to 22 percent of the population of the developing world. By contrast, in 1981, 1.94 billion people were living in extreme poverty. The update draws on over 850 household surveys in 126 countries. 2008 is the latest date for which a global figure can be calculated. This is because, while more recent statistics for middle income countries are available, for low-income countries newer data are either scarce or not comparable with previous estimates. >> PovcalNet

Each month the ILO publishes the latest national data for indicators which have been selected for their ability to reflect recent and short term changes. The data published in the Short term indicators of the labour market page are drawn from official national statistical sources. They are compiled and released on a monthly, quarterly or half-year basis and based on national definitions.
