To Amy: Removing to foil is simply a way to keep the steaks warm whilst resting (FOR 5 MINUTES AT LEAST… ALWAYYYS!). When the OP says remove to foil, he/she doesn’t mean to wrap them tightly. They mean to place them in a plate, and form a loose ‘covering’ of foil.
This will simply trap some of the heat and allow it to remain warm, without trapping too much moisture. To the OP and to anyone else who decides to try ‘flambe’: It is important to note: When you add cognac or any other high proof liquour to a hot pan, then ignite, you are not burning the alcohol itself, per se. . - Never light alcohol while there is an open flame/heat source. . - Notice how in the OP, they remove the pan from the stove and then light.

I want to first tell y’all that you make me laugh, you encourage me, and really I’d like to spend some time with each of you because I think you’re all super cool. Sometimes I assume you’ve been around since the very beginning of this blog.
But back then no one was around besides me, Mom, DaddyBoy & MommaSis. Because I thought you’ve all been around forever I figured you knew I made the star garland but bought the stockings from Pottery Barn Kids {post-Christmas sale in 2006}. The star garland was way easy. I just made a star pattern and cut stars from fabric scraps, used fusible fleece between the two layers, used a straight stitch to sew the layers together, and used my pinking shears around the edges. At the top of each star I made a button hole and strung the stars on twine.

You’ll need: Fluffy Vanilla Cake with Whipped Vanilla Bean Frosting. 8640 minutes, 144 hours, 25 loads of dishes, 7 recipes, 8 pounds of butter, a few tears, a couple of happy children, and 1 relieved husband later, I have finally found it: a new favourite classic vanilla cake recipe! The perfect fluffy vanilla cake and creamy vanilla frosting–sounds simple, right? Well, yes and no. Or no and yes. Or not at all. As a matter of fact, I think I need a hug. The thing is, I couldn’t help but wonder if there was a recipe out there that yields a fluffy vanilla cake, you know, one that is as close as can be to the boxed white cake we all love so much (yep, I said it!).

One-pan dark chocolate chunk skillet cookie. For some reason, I was craving this on Saturday. Nothing else would do. All I wanted was a warm, gooey, chocolate chip cookie, straight out of an iron skillet. With just a little ice cream. I flipped through a cookbook or two, and discovered you could make chocolate chip cookies with melted butter. One recipe (from The Weekend Baker by Abigail Dodge) even had you mix the entire dough in the saucepan where you melted the butter, and then scoop out the cookies from there. As this was a lazy Saturday, and my intent was only to satisfy my craving (not a den of Cub Scouts’ or a mob of preschoolers’), I exercised no financial caution and dumped an entire cup of chopped Valrhona chocolate into the mix.
To make this, since it is such a simple recipe, use the very best ingredients you can. And then run a 5k. Now I know that most of you don’t have an enormous bar of Valrhona chocolate lying around. And I prefer pasta sauce without meat—a throwback to my vegetarian days in sunny Los Angeles. The way I see it, there are just too many delicious non-meat ingredients that accompany pasta so well, and there’s no need to mess it all up with sausage or ground beef or chicken. Today’s dish is the perfect example. I used to eat a dish just like this at a restaurant in Los Angeles, and when I moved away I was forced to replicate it in my kitchen lest I begin to confuse nostalgia for this pasta with nostalgia for James and run back to southern California. Not that everyone in Newport Beach has 1.7 children and dogs named Britney.
To begin, fire up the grill (the range in the Lodge has this built in grill), the broiler, or the open flame on your cooktop. What we need to do is char the heck out of the red peppers. The Ultimate Strawberry Lemonade. One of the first times I ever realized that – HEY! I can cook for myself! – was when I first learned to make lemonade. I magically found the refrigerated lemon juice at our house and followed the directions to make my own lemonade. I stirred and stirred and stirred again until that sugar was finally dissolved. Sorry for the detour. Anyway, there was a summer there where I made my own lemonade every single day, making sure to rub it in my sister’s face that I knew how to and she didn’t.
The key to this being the ultimate lemonade is that you blend it up with the lemon rind in there. And any time of day for that matter. (makes 2 pint-glass servings with ice) 3/4 cup sugar2 large lemons, microwaved for 30 seconds2 cups water1 cup of frozen strawberries, microwaved for 1 minute (you could use fresh, but I think the frozen works better here) In a blender squeeze the lemons and add the rest of the lemon, rind and all. Now if that doesn’t say summer, I don’t know what does. Chewiest Sugar Cookies recipe from food52. Author Notes: My 8 year old daughter Maddie and I love to make cookies together.
We always sample the dough as we go, adding a little more sugar or vanilla (or something else), if needed. Because if the dough doesn't taste good, the cookies certainly won't. If you use very fresh free-range eggs (ours are from a farm down the road), then you don't have to worry about salmonella. If you'd rather not eat raw dough, though, trust that Maddie and I have tasted this one, and we think it's great. We love the chewy sugar cookies made from this dough, too, of course- they remind us of those packaged slice and bake ones, but they're better. Food52 Review: These super-chewy cookies have deep dark sugar flavor and rich vanilla notes. Serves 20-30 cookies This recipe is a Community Pick! The Brownie That Will Change Your Life. Let me start off by saying that viewer discretion is advised for today’s post. OK now with the story that preludes possibly the greatest brownie I have ever sunk my teeth in thus far in my life. Last Saturday Mrs. Zesty had a baby shower to attend and she was designated for a dessert/sweet treat for the girls. Last week was a bit of a zoo and I think I forgot about prepping this dessert until Friday afternoon at work. After work I did a quick scan for some ideas and came up with a chocolate caramel brownie. I figured that would be a hit with a “bunch” of girls. I knew time was tight and I didn’t want to spend all night Friday night to prep a dessert. This recipe, I cannot take any credit for and nor will I try as it is compliments of Nestle Toll House and as you can see from the reviews….
