Kinetic Chandelier "Silke" : Sebastian Neitsch
My final project at the University of Art and Design in Halle consists out of a robotic chandelier that has its own way of creating a constantly changing light-atmosphere.

Projects
The Personal Robots Group focuses on developing the principles, techniques, and technologies for personal robots. Cynthia and her students have developed numerous robotic creatures ranging from robotic flower gardens, to embedding robotic technologies into familiar everyday artifacts (e.g., clothing, lamps, desktop computers), to creating highly expressive humanoids --- including the well-known social robot, Leonardo. Each Media Lab faculty member and senior research scientist leads a research group that includes a number of graduate student researchers and often involves undergraduate researchers. How new technologies can help people better communicate, understand, and respond to affective information. How technology can be used to enhance human physical capability.

Perhaps you are a sculptor who would like different sounds or videos to play based on how someone touches your sculpture, or a dancer who wants a knee bend to cause bells to ring.
Physical Computing
A surface covered with black sand turns into a pool full of life when people grab and remove a handful of sand away. In this micro-world, virtual creatures are born, live and perish. They recognize their spatial boundaries and obstacles of living and respond to peoples' touch in various ways.
