Boston Dynamics: Dedicated to the Science and Art of How Things BigDog - The Most Advanced Rough-Terrain Robot on Earth BigDog is a rough-terrain robot that walks, runs, climbs and carries heavy loads. BigDog is powered by an engine that drives a hydraulic actuation system. BigDog has four legs that are articulated like an animal’s, with compliant elements to absorb shock and recycle energy from one step to the next. BigDog is the size of a large dog or small mule; about 3 feet long, 2.5 feet tall and weighs 240 lbs. SPIDigitalPot Learning Examples | Foundations | Hacking | Links Controlling a Digital Potentiometer Using SPI Examples > SPI LIbrary In this tutorial you will learn how to control the AD5206 digital potentiometer using Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI). For an explanation of SPI see the SPI EEPROM tutorial. Digital potentiometers are useful when you need to vary the resistance in a circuit electronically rather than by hand.

Arduino & NunChuck create Real Time DIY Pan & Tilt Camera Learn to create your own DIY pan and tilt camera which is controllable (in basically real time) by using a Wii nunchuck and the Arduino.  By moving and rotating the nunchuck, two servo motors match your movements allowing you to control your camera and take pictures. If you’re unfamiliar with the arduino, see our tutorial and the top 40 Arduino projects of the web. How to Make your Own: Grab a nunchuck ($12.50 on eBay), an arduino and two servo motors. We’ve covered how to connect and use the wiimote as an accelerometer in a previous tutoiralAttach them roughly as shown in the image below (slightly different because you have two servos)Upload the arduino sketch. For full details, you can check out the tutorial write up.

Adam The Robot Scientist Makes Its First Discovery Professor Ross King with robot scientist Adam. Although the cost and large size of the robot makes it impractical to have one in every laboratory, both factors should decrease over time. Remember how the very first computers could fill an entire room? When it comes to being a scientist, Adam is quite the standout. No, he is not a Nobel Prize Laureate or even a prodigy. He’s more like a prototype – the first robot to design, perform, and interpret a series of scientific experiments leading to a new discovery.

Pull-up resistor Pull-up resistors are used in electronic logic circuits to ensure that inputs to logic systems settle at expected logic levels if external devices are disconnected or high-impedance is introduced. They may also be used at the interface between two different types of logic devices, possibly operating at different power supply voltages. When the switch is open the voltage of the gate input is pulled up to the level of Vin.

Robonaut 2 ready for International Space Station Robonaut 2, the humanoid working robot that's been under development with NASA and General Motors, is finally ready to show its stuff in outer space, GM announced Wednesday. The Robonaut 2, aka R2, will take up residence at the International Space Station, with a voyage to its new home planned for this September as part of the STS-133 mission on the space shuttle Discovery . Keyboard Matrix Help Dave Dribin v1.1 24 Jun, 2000 Attempts to explain how a keyboard matrix works, what "ghosting" and "masking" are, and how to prevent them. It took me a bit to figure this out, partly due to the fact of no really good explanation of it. So, I'm going to have a crack at it. Basically, I wanted to understand how keyboard matrices work.
