Here’s the big thing I made for my partner: a Chewbacca bandolier bag. I used a leather skirt I got at a thrift store to make the bag, and Altoids tins for the cartridges on the bandolier (I spray painted them after this photo). This hat is much more like the original "pilot" hat, where it's less of a tube with a face hole. This one has straps that you can tie underneath your chin. November 30th, 2012 It’s widely accepted that terrariums are awesome, which means they also make awesome gifts.
It’s hard to wrap a terrarium though, so a DIY kit is the perfect solution. It would be easy to whip up a whole bunch of these kits if you need a lot of inexpensive, creative gifts. Or wouldn’t they make amazing party/wedding favors? I designed some free printable cards with planting and care instructions for you to download and include in your terrarium kit. I got a gig teaching a recycled t-shirt project at the library a few months ago, with a request for a recycled tee bag – the only bags I’d made from tees in the past had required sturdy sewing, and I didn’t want hand-sewing to be the only thing holding the bottom closed in a class version of the bags, so I started brainstorming about some kind of hand-sewing-friendly or no-sew bag idea…. and here’s what I came up with! The simplest version of these bags is great for smaller tees, or the more light-weight kind of girl-tees – just turn the bottom of the shirt into a drawstring and tie it closed!

Dog and Cat Paper Gift Boxes. The other day I stumbled upon this great tutorial (and free template) from Curbly for a very simple gift box, and I made these out of card stock.
Immediately, when I saw these with the way the little tabs stick up, they reminded me of little animals. So I decided to turn a couple of them into a dog and a cat. I used the scraps of card stock leftover from the template to cut out little arms and tails for the dog and cat. I attached everything with a glue stick. I added little eyes, paper noses, and details with an ultra fine sharpie. How to make the ears and tongue: When cutting out the template for the cat and dog boxes, I drew new lines over the tabs (make them longer, NOT wider), in the shape of dog and cat ears. Fabric Scrap Wrapped Frame. I have a bunch of old frames that I've received and found over time. Several of them were just the frame, missing the glass and backing.
