Well, I’m back from a couple whirlwind weekends of travel to the West coast.

My mom, sister, and I had a fantastic time in San Francisco soaking up each other’s company and plenty of glorious California sunshine. My skin has gone from ghostly white to slightly not ghostly white with a hint of funky sandal tan lines. Success. After the conference in Portland, my sleep-deprived self came down with a bad cold the day before I traveled to SF, so I was a sniffling and sneezing mess during most of the second trip.

Luckily, my loving travel companions, the sunny blue skies, and plenty of food & wine helped me heal. I must say, it’s been a shock to my system to be back to my normal work routine. In the non-Facebook version of life, also known as reality, the distillery is still very much in the process of becoming extant. Though so far, the number of people who have offered their services as first line taste testers outstrips the numbers of any of these categories by far. It was april then, and me and frank were just about to move. while the move was just down the street and around the corner, it was more of a headache than we thought. we wrongly assumed that since the move was short we could totally rent a uhaul and move ourselves - dur! I waited until the day before we moved to pack up the kitchen because i was testing and shooting recipes for the cookbook . plus, we were sandwiched between the new tenant moving into our old place, and the old tenant moving out of our new apartment, so we kind of made a mad dash of it piling everything into the uhaul and our car at the last minute. i was that crazy lady in the VW convertible doing laps around the block with plants and chairs, and boxes of cookbooks hanging out of the roof, while people looked on thinking i was nutso. anyway, it's been a blast so far having a backyard(!!!)

And plus, the leaves on the ground are clearly confused because this flower tells me it’s still summer!!
