Throughout the course of this informational source, Parenting Styles will be shared in detail together with different effects it carries on children. There are four parenting styles, which will be further defined together with given examples on parenting practices in Singapore as well as globally.



"Authoritarian" parenting tend to have high expectations of their children and engage in harsh punishments or threats, expressing control by yelling and commanding. They emphasise on cold forms of discipline.

"Authoritative" parenting includes high demands but parents are sensitive to their child's well-being and emotions. They take time to listen, engaging in positive forms of discipline.

"Permissive" parenting tend to be very loving and provide the child with all that they requests for, but may end up spoiling them. Parents are seen more as friends with little attempt to have any form of control over their kids.

"Uninvolved" parenting defines parents as being absent in the child's life, be it physically or emotionally. Little guidance and affection is noticed, with only minimal needs like food, water and shelter provided.
