Crossfire. Super Mario Bros. Crossover 2.0. Two Suns? Twin Stars Could Be Visible From Earth By 2012. By Dean Praetorius | HuffingtonPost.com Earth could be getting a second sun, at least temporarily. Dr. Brad Carter, Senior Lecturer of Physics at the University of Southern Queensland, outlined the scenario to news.com.au. Betelgeuse, one of the night sky’s brightest stars, is losing mass, indicating it is collapsing. It could run out of fuel and go super-nova at any time. When that happens, for at least a few weeks, we’d see a second sun, Carter says. The Star Wars-esque scenario could happen by 2012, Carter says... or it could take longer. But doomsday sayers should be careful about speculation on this one. In fact, a neutrino shower could be beneficial to Earth. UPDATE: To clarify, the news.com.au article does not say a neutrino shower could be beneficial to Earth, but implies a supernova could be beneficial, stating, "Far from being a sign of the apocalypse, according to Dr Carter the supernova will provide Earth with elements necessary for survival and continuity.

01 by Lar deSouza. It’s been some time since I last launched a new feature, a little over 3 years I believe, so forgive me if I’m a bit rusty with this. In brief, Gutters is a series of standalone pages that parody the comic book industry and the heroes and characters that dwell within. Think of it as an editorial cartoon targeting comic books, and you’ll understand where we’re going with it.
While I’ll be writing Gutters, Lar will be the art director with Ed Ryzowski serving as colorist. As for who will be doing the actual art, well, that’s where things get interesting (and slightly different). Rather than have one artist pencil each page, we elected to have a rotating roster of professional artists, among them some giants in the comic book industry alongside new and emerging talent. This way, in addition to what I hope will be a humorous comic, Gutters will also be an ongoing showcase of art.
A new Gutters will be posted here every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. -sohmer. 271 by Bill Mund. Hey Mark, don’t worry. We’ve all had those curiosities. Those dark, digital urges… and for the most part, they’ve worked out fine! I honestly don’t get the reaction that certain retailers have had to Mark and Marvel’s new digital initiatives. We’ve been having different versions of the Print vs Digital debate for years now and I really think it’s high time that retailers stop acting so shocked and appalled that digital comics exist. Maybe one day digital comics will be all we have.
Maybe they will actually drive up demand for print comics the way digital music has led to a resurgence of vinyl records. And, speaking of those print comics, guess who just smashed two walls in their store and is having a special sale this weekend? This weekend only, you can get 2 Gutters books for only $40! The sale is only this weekend, so jump on it! Today’s page came to us from jolly old England via Bill Mund: On a slightly more personal note, it’s been kind of a rough week around these parts. -Moss.
Brave New Worldview – 30 Science Fiction Films of the 21st Century - Row Three. A decade into the 21st Century and we have arrived at the future. The promise of Tomorrow. But instead we have looming energy crises, endless middle east conflict and more disappointing, we have no flying cars, Heck, for all the bright and clean future promised in 2001: A Space Odyssey, none of the real companies used as brands in the film even exist anymore. Even moving from the late 1960s to the mid 1980s, nobody makes DeLoreans (although they occasionally sell on Ebay), but cloning and tablet computing (as promised by Star Trek: The Next Generation) have more or less come to pass in this century.
It is not the gizmos or the distopian aesthetics, that have brought Science Fiction into the new millennium, but the questions it asks of people or society in a future time or place and how they reflect on our own times. There have been a surprising number of excellent science fiction films to come about in the past decade that do this and do this well. The Fountain 28 Weeks Later The Host. Wonderputt.

Brut: The Essence of What Exactly? « Charles Montgomery. A few weeks ago I read an article on The Art of Manliness called 6 Forgotten Drugstore Colognes and Aftershaves, by the site’s editor, Brett McKay. In it, McKay selected several colognes that have been mainstays of most drugstores for decades, including Old Spice, Brut, English Leather a few others; items we dismiss as being grandpa’s cologne. The general conclusion was that these products, though cheap and having a reputation for being dated, still represent surprisingly good quality. Even the comments below the article, which are often the domain of the knee-jerk enthusiast, were generally positive. On the back of these findings, I decided to pick up one of the featured products on my next trip down to the pharmacy. I opted for Brut for the very simple reason that I knew Muhammad Ali had endorsed it in the past, and I’m a big fan. In its heyday, Brut, along with Old Spice and couple of other brands mentioned in McKay’s article, were the go-to male fragrances.
Then began the decline. Blair Charbonneau's Info : Copywriter & Content Writer. Chuck+Norris.gif (GIF Image, 350 × 196 pixels) Good Horror Movies Every Fan Has To See. If you ask people on the street for some suggestions of a great horror movie, odds are you'd get a wide range of answers. You’d get everything from the scariest slasher film to horror comedies and even b-rated horror movies that barely classify for the genre. Because we all have a different capacity for being scared and our own unique reasons for watching horror films, we of course have varying tolerances for gore and suspenseful movies[2].
Storytelling is an art form and the best stories share a hero, his struggles, and the ultimate victory of the hero over the villain. Great horror movies drag out the suspense until the end[1], sometimes never concluding with victory. The most successful horror franchises are masterful at drawing the suspense to the next movie, where the hero will finally be able to overcome the villain. Maybe. Let's get started, shall we?
