52 Weeks Project

52 Weeks Project
(image by a pair & a spare) Thanks to some encouraging words from my friend Rachael, I opened a Society6 shop last week to sell some of my prints. Photography is a newer hobby of mine, I’ve even been able to do some freelancing this year, but it got me thinking about starting a shop for the other items I make. I’ve dabbled on Etsy before, but I wasn’t serious about what I was doing or what I was selling. I was perfectly happy when my shop got a favorite or two, but at the end of the day, there was a disconnect between me and the product. Here are some basic tips that I learned the first time around:

DIY String Art Hi guys! Dina here from Honey & Fitz back with another tutorial. This time I’m showing you how to make some string art for your little one’s room! Rather than deal with hammers and cutting wood, I decided to do this project using cork tiles. Not only are they easy to find and inexpensive, they’re also very light weight so you don’t have to worry about them falling off the wall and hurting anyone.

do-it-yourself jewelry storage « Monaluna Okay, yes, I’m on a storage kick these days. Have I mentioned that our house is kind of small? With very few surfaces on which to put stuff? I bought a much-needed jewelry box the other day, and when I got it home I realized there was no place to put it. Seriously. The only real surface is our dresser, which is now in the baby’s room serving as a changing table.

Kitchen Tips 1. Stuff a miniature marshmallow in the bottom of a sugar cone to prevent ice cream drips. 2. Nutella Recipes: 5 Ways To Make The Hazelnut Spread At Home We should all know by now that Nutella, the insanely addictive chocolate hazelnut spread, is not a healthy food item -- despite what Nutella's famous commercial may lead you to believe. You can certainly spread it on wholesome ingredients, such as whole-wheat bread and fresh fruit, but that doesn't change the fact that it's full of fat and sugar. The problem is that Nutella tastes so good, it's hard to stay away from it.

Cool Pop-up Card I‘ve been scratching my head trying to come up with a card for my hubby {AKA the non-romantic type}. I finally decided to make this pixely popup heart card! They are really minimal (which I love) and take about 20 minutes to make (that includes the card, insert and envelope). How About Orange My 2014 Oscar ballot and bingo game are done! Get set to enjoy Sunday's Academy Awards with friends. It doesn't matter if they watch movies or know who the actors are; anyone can play bingo and it's a good excuse for a party. Download the Oscar ballot PDFDownload the Oscar bingo PDF Save the PDFs to your computer, open them in Adobe Reader, and print. To use the ballot: print one for each guest and have them mark their predictions before the show starts.

DIY Floral Sunglasses We always claim to see the world through rose colored glasses . . . but how about rose trimmed glasses? In honor of the widespread floral trend and our love of Dolce & Gabbana‘s Baroque-inspired fall collection, we’re DIYing a pair of outrageously fabulous sunglasses using the same charming little ceramic roses from a recent tutorial. These will surely be a pair of shades you won’t go unnoticed in this summer!

How to make boxes from paint swatches If you've got paint chips sitting around begging to be made into something, try folding them into boxes for paperclips, thumbtacks, party favor candies, or tiny gifts. I made these from Behr swatches, available at Home Depot. You'll need paint swatches, double-stick tape, an X-acto knife, ruler, and cutting mat. For the box bottom, cut a 1/2" strip off each of the two rounded ends of the swatch. You should be left with a 5" x 5" square. At a point slightly more than 1 1/2" from one edge—about 1 17/32" if you want to be picky, but I just eyeballed it—score a line with your knife.
