The PolishAholic

The PolishAholic
Hi guys! Today I have a totally non-polish post for ya! I've mentioned it a few times here and on other social media that we were getting the kitchen and living room remodeled at my house for the last couple of months. Along the way of the renovation I've been posting photos on Twitter and Instagram of the progress and a few people said they wanted to see the outcome so I thought I'd do a whole post of the process. I LOVE home renovation stuff, I was an interior design major back when I went to college...never ended up graduating, but I still love it. I also love me some HGTV, I kinda felt like I was living on Property Brothers or something haha!

Tutorial: Easy Sponge Gradient Happy Sunday! Today, I wanted to show you guys how I did the Tropical Gradient from earlier this week. It's very easy and I like that it has that seamless look. Writing About Literature Summary: This handout provides examples and description about writing papers in literature. It discusses research topics, how to begin to research, how to use information, and formatting. >How-To: Newsprint Manicure I saw this newsprint manicure over on The Daily Nail and thought it was adorable (especially for bookworms and word lovers like myself). I did a little Google detective work to see how to recreate it, and was surprised at how easy it is! All of the tutorials I found called for vodka or other clear distilled spirits, but we were fresh out. I used isopropyl alcohol instead, and it seemed to get the job done.

Copy That, Copy Cat Hi everyone! Finally did that new caviar trend manicure and I'm loving it - it's like candy on my fingers :) I decided to do a rainbow one 'cause they're the only colours I have (really want to do a black and blue one) and they still turned out great. Texture doesn't bother me too much, but they are kind of like having rhinestones on your nails, so if it bothers you, this isn't the mani for you! I did a full cover over every nail just last night and there have been casualties already haha. Also, some of the microbeads are losing colour, so it looks like there are bald spots. Lucky me, took the pics before they started to look like clear beads. The Nailasaurus Can I call Napoleon Dynamite a 'cult-classic'? I think it definitely has a cult following but maybe it's not old enough to be a classic. Perhaps cult-favourite is better. This movie is an endless source of inside-jokes among my friends and I, all the way from the obvious, 'GOSH!' to references about chatting online and llamas.

DIY Drippy Nails We were immediately inspired the moment we saw bare nails with blood-like, drippy polish accompany Prabal Gurung‘s spring collection at New York Fashion Week. Halloween is one of our favorite holidays and thus, the timing couldn’t have been better to recreate this deliciously daring DIY for our phalanges. Though a more vampy, burgundy color went down the runway, I went for more vibrant red . . . but the best part about this tutorial is that you can make it your own with just about any color, for any season! You’ll need: Dip the toothpick into the nail polish bottle so that the tip collects a round bead of polish. Place the bead of polish on a bare nail and drag it upwards, creating a tapered line.

31 day nail challenge This challenge is wearing me out! I'm almost finished and I can't wait till it's over, cause seriously, from the beginning of the challenge till now, I've been itching to try some other things that I've seen this past month! Also, I finally took the time to change my blog around a bit! There's still some things I want to fix, but need to figure out how to do it. I'm such a web illiterate person and cannot for the life of me understand the jibberish they call HTML. What do you think of the layout/design?

The Digi Nails – A Hybrid Manicure I’ve been seeing lots of outrageous nail art lately on pinterest. One hot new product that’s really caught my eye is adhesive nail polish strips. I love the funky designs and bold colors with these products, but they’re usually a little spendy for me. I have a great alternative and I’m super-excited to share with you a really fun, new way to use digital scrapbooking supplies!

31 Day Nail Challenge The 31 day nail challenge is not for the faint of heart! Just kidding...mostly. It's a really fun, exciting way to expand your knowledge of nail art. Tons of nail bloggers have tackled this challenge and it's so much fun to see what they come up with every day. The hardest part is taking off your gorgeous manicures every day to do a new one.
