Math Worksheets Land "We now have over 4,000 PDF files that total over 12,000 printable pages. 100% free as always! Comic Creator The Comic Creator invites students to compose their own comic strips for a variety of contexts (prewriting, pre- and postreading activities, response to literature, and so on). The organizers focus on the key elements of comic strips by allowing students to choose backgrounds, characters, and props, as well as to compose related dialogue (shown at left). This versatile tool can be used by students from kindergarten through high school, for purposes ranging from learning to write dialogue to an in-depth study of a formerly neglected genre. The tool is easy to use, made even easier with the Comic Strip Planning Sheet, a printable PDF that comic creators can use to draft and revise their work before creating and printing their final comics. After completing their comic, students have the ability to print out and illustrate their final versions for feedback and assessment.

3D Shapes . Intro We live in a three-dimensional world. Every object you can see or touch has three dimensions that can be measured: length, width, and height. The room you are sitting in can be described by these three dimensions. The monitor you're looking at has these three dimensions. Even you can be described by these three dimensions. Magnificent Measurement Gather students in a large group. Ask them to name the different time frames within a day—morning, afternoon, and night. Have students share activities they participate in during the morning time (for example, wake up, eat breakfast, and brush teeth), afternoon (for example, eat lunch, play outside, and go home from school), and night (for example, eat supper, do homework, and watch TV). If students have difficulty, ask such guiding questions as “When do you eat breakfast?” or “When do you take a bath?”

A very significant literature genre, fairy tales are present in all cultures around the world. In comparison to myths and legends, the time and place of occurrence in fairy tales are not defined. Their characteristics include the appearance of fantastic elements in the form of talking animals, magic, witches and giants, knights and heroes. It wasn't until the 17th century that fairy tales in Europe were written down and preserved for future generations.

Horus Eye Fractions The ancient Egyptian system of measures provides another example of number signs conceived as a coherent system. In the so- called “Horus-eye fractions”1, the designer of a numerical sequence linked its members also into a unified whole derived from a myth, just as in the series of numerals for the powers of ten. Gay Robins and Charles Shute describe this series of measures in their book on “The Rhind Mathematical Papyrus”, an ancient Egyptian mathematics text for apprentice scribes : “The common unit of volume, used for measuring amounts of grain or flour, was the hekat, approximately equal to 4.8 litres or just over a [British] gallon. (...) For smaller amounts, the hekat could be progressively halved to give /2, /4, /8, /16, /32, and /64 fractions. (...) [These ] are known as the Horus-eye fractions, because they were written with distinctive signs that resemble the parts of the eye of the falcon- headed god Horus, known as the wedjat-eye.

Vocabulary is the knowledge of words and word meanings. As Steven Stahl (2005) puts it, "Vocabulary knowledge is knowledge; the knowledge of a word not only implies a definition, but also implies how that word fits into the world."
