Algebra Meltdown Game Goals In this maths game you have been recruited by Lissaman Industries to assist in one of their super-secret, ultra-dangerous research projects. As the new controller of the mighty Nuclear Generator, your job is to serve scientists waiting at the Generator's outlets. Each scientist needs a certain atom, which you create by solving linear equations and then guiding 'raw' atoms through the Generator's maze of machines and tubes. Be quick: the scientists are impatient to continue their work. Take too long to serve them and they grow annoyed and eventually storm off; let this happen too many times and you will be fired! The ultimate aim of the project is to construct a monstrous mega-machine known only as 'The Device'. How To Play Algebra Meltdown's action takes place across multiple level or 'shifts', each featuring a unique Nuclear Generator layout. Across the top of the screen is a rack dispensing 'raw atoms' between values -9 and +9 (B). Game Controls Generator Components Intake Funnel

Gardner's Multiple Intelligences Howard Gardner of Harvard has identified seven distinct intelligences. This theory has emerged from recent cognitive research and "documents the extent to which students possess different kinds of minds and therefore learn, remember, perform, and understand in different ways," according to Gardner (1991). According to this theory, "we are all able to know the world through language, logical-mathematical analysis, spatial representation, musical thinking, the use of the body to solve problems or to make things, an understanding of other individuals, and an understanding of ourselves.

Home | wiris.com Teens Tackle Real-World Math in Oklahoma How to bring high tech to your school at a low cost. Credit: Thomas Reis Math teacher Telannia Norfar came to teaching after earlier stints in telecommunications and journalism, so she appreciates real-world applications of learning. To make sure her ninth graders at Northwest Classen High School, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, see those connections, too, Norfar develops projects that put math concepts to work in authentic ways, and she adds technology to the mix whenever possible. In one project, students use algebra to analyze variable pricing of local cell phone plans. The three-week project involves translating marketing language into linear formulas that compare pricing variables. Norfar has mapped out all the details on a wiki chart, free software used to organize information. Je rappelle à tous que ces fichiers mis gratuitement en ligne ne me rapportent rien contrairement à ce que certains pensent .Mais ,peut- être ,ai-je tort ? XtraMath - Upgrade your KWL Chart to th 21st Century 0 Comments July 22, 2011 By: Silvia Tolisano Jul 22 Written by: 7/22/2011 12:39 AM ShareThis One of the take aways from the Curriculum Mapping Institute this past week was that it brought an upgrade to THE trusted KWL (Know, What to Know and Learned) Chart to the forefront. An “H” snuck into the Acronym! What does this “H” stand for”? I started out by searching Google, which immediately wanted to correct my search term and showed me the traditional “KWL chart” results. The top search results turned out mostly downloadable files for templates, which was quiet interesting as there were several explanations in these tutorials what the “H” could stand for: HOW can we find the answers to these questions? In direct relation to our quest to bring Information literacy in the 21st century to our teachers and students, the “HOW will we find the information” sticks out right away for me. My Twitter network was much better in helping me extend my search for KWHL.
