Things to Make and Do, Crafts and Activities for Kids - The Crafty Crow: Kids Handmade Holiday. Like many of you, this year we are doing an all handmade holiday. This includes the kids! My sister and I have seven kids between us and working together we came up with a big list of all the things that the kids could make for their siblings, cousins, parents, aunt, uncle, grandparents and friends. For the month of December I will be focusing on many of these items along with tutorials and/or links. I hope you'll find something new and exciting and will join along with us for a Kids Handmade Holiday! DIY. Dry shampoo has been a MUST HAVE in my daily hair care routine for the past three years.

I’ve gone through countless spray cans of different brands (Psst! , Tresemme, John Frieda, Garnier, Oscar Blandi, Batiste…to name a few), spending way too much for very little product. I started to use plain old baby powder, sprinkling it directly on my roots and rubbing it in, and I found that it worked just as well or even better at giving my hair added volume and combating greasiness. I continued to do this for months until one day I was at work, and I happen to catch a glance of my hair in the mirror. THE RECIPE: Mix 3 parts cocoa powder and 1 part cornstarch and/or baby powder in a small container. Because this container works so well, I just hold the container in my hand and sprinkle the powder directly onto my roots and rub it in with my fingers. QUICK TIP: Did you know that the best way to use dry shampoo is to apply it BEFORE you actually need it? Make-up Magnet Board. We all know with craft blogs that original ideas are often hard to come by, we find ideas we love and make them our own but we didn't come up with the idea ourselves.

I feel like I've finally done something original here and I'm excited about it. I'll show you the finished product and then explain. Behold my Make-up Magnet Board. I have a friend who is beautiful and stylish and has always loved make-up but recently took a course that intensified her love. Her renewed interest has worn off on me and it made me remember eye shadows I'd hidden away that were gathering dust. I pulled them all out and was shocked at just how many I had.

The basket was a mess and I was overwhelmed with all my choices never knowing what to use, digging through to see what I had and find what I wanted was a pain. I painted it (The hard way, with a brush instead of spray paint. I went to the hardware store and picked up some metal and had them cut it to fit inside my frame. I saw a plastic grocery bag next to me and then this idea popped up.

I think.. well, give it a try. With some trials and errors, my little jellyfish comes alive just like I thought it would be. : ) When daddy and son first saw it, they’re surprised with their jaws wide open. Things you need to make your own jellyfish (Hope you can find all these in your kitchen) : 1. Instruction: • Flatten the bag and cut off the handle and the bottom part (see picture 1) • Cut along both sides (see picture 2) to split into 2 plastic sheets – by the way, we only use just one of them. • From the center of the plastic sheet, fold it like a tiny balloon to make the head part and tie it with the thread – not too tight (see picture 3).

After you've done a few successful strip bracelets (pattern 1), you're ready to do the arrow one (chevron, #2). For this bracelet you need to know both forward and backward knots. When you're doing the arrow bracelet, you need two strings of each colour. That means that when you're doing a bracelet from eight strings, you need four colours. You are working from both sides with two string of the same colour, which are then tied together in the middle to create a 'V' or an arrow. The strings should be the same length as while doing the striped bracelet (1 metre). Tie your strings in one knot on the top and fasten it on your safety pin. In the knots tutorial, it shows you how to make both forward and backward knots, which you should already know.

The working strings for the first 'V' or an arrow, is going to be blue. On the left hand side, make a forward knot over the pink string. On the right hand side, make a backward knot over the other pink string. You made your first 'V' or an arrow. TetraBox Light by Ed Chew. Liquid to Light Designer Ed Chew takes a green step in the right direction with the TetraBox lamp, a light object made from discarded drink packets that would have otherwise ended up in landfills already packed to the brim. The design is achieved by unfolding the packets and refolding them into hexagonal and pentagonal sections that are then pieced together to form a geodesic sphere or any other desired shape.

Here, the Epcot-like ball makes an attractive overhead light and casts an impressive web of shadows and shapes on the surrounding space. Designer: Ed Chew. I Could Do That - StumbleUpon. Holder for Charging Cell Phone (made from lotion bottle) My husband and I both have cell phones. And both of us have phone chargers. And that means lots of obnoxious cords. You never know when one of us may be moving phone cords around, to give our phones an extra charge while we’re chatting away……… or trying to charge our phones up before running errands or something.

Needless to say, those phone cords seem to be everywhere…..and are generally in the way and hanging all over the floor. (Okay, and how about when you’re in a hotel or visiting family/friends. There’s never a perfect place to rest your phone while it’s charging.) I was looking around on the internet for a solution and found this. It made the perfect little holder for my cell phone while it’s being charged. Holder for Charging Cell Phone And no more phone hanging down from the outlet while in this room or that room……..the cord and phone are now up off the ground, and tucked away into the little holder, while the phone drinks up a full charge. And turns out, it’s pretty useful.
