iPad in Education

I had a reasonably extended play with the iPad and I am very impressed. I think it has real potential as an educational tool. I am not sure how this will work with school machines.
If you've got yourself a new iPad 4 or iPad mini , you'll want to start downloading the best iPad apps straight away. And if you already have an iPad 3 or older iPad, you might want to update it with some new apps. It's the apps that really set iOS apart from other platforms - there are far more apps available on the App Store for the iPad than any other tablet.

Although this is based in the UK, the site’s content will reflect practice from other counties and contexts in order to explore and learn from a wide field. I am Ian Wilson, a freelance Apple Professional Development Authorised Trainer based in the north west of England (Twitter: @Ian__Wilson ). I have set up this site as I believe the iPad signals the opportunity for a transformation in how technology is used in schools, colleges and universities.

What it is: I have long been a TED talk fan, so much so that I started a lunch group at my previous school called TED Talk Tuesdays where teachers could gather over lunch, watch TED Talks and discuss it’s implication on education. TED has a brand new education site that I am excited about. TED-ed is a collection of educational video lessons that have been animated. http://ilearntechnology.com/?cat=922

Thoughts on the iPad2 in Teaching

http://teachpaperless.blogspot.com/2011/06/thoughts-on-ipad2-in-teaching.html By Shelly Blake-Plock Picked up my own iPad2 about three weeks ago and, as an experiment, I have set my laptop aside and have used nothing but the Apple in the classroom ever since.
