These high-falutin terms are fine for a theoretical matrix, but what about the real life implementation of Twitter in and outside of your classroom? How do you actually do it? I'm going to leave behind the pedagogy (mostly) in this post, and instead offer some practical advice for teaching with Twitter. What, exactly, does that mean educationally? Well, a lot. I’ve been pretty slow to incorporate social media in my classroom. This week, however, may be the kick-start I need to jump in. Here’s why: This is the week of the homecoming football game at my school in west-central Indiana. Tuesday was “Duck Dynasty Day.” The students really went over the top to dress up in camouflage, Duck Dynasty t-shirts and beards for this one.

It just happened that we were studying family relationship vocabulary in Spanish 1, so it only made sense that we chart out the Robertson family tree and label the family relationships in Spanish. Cool activity on a fun day, right? It’s just starting to get interesting. I said, “We should put this on Twitter and tag some of the guys on Duck Dynasty to see if we can get retweeted.” So we did. They then send it out to their parents and relatives through Twitter, the stamping grounds of celebrities and politicians, where few kindergartners have been known to venture.
