Characteristics of sample Table 1 shows demographic characteristics of the key informants and general practitioners.
Table 2 summarises the demographics of the focus group participants. Participants were not asked directly whether they had previously been tested for, or received a diagnosis for hepatitis B or C. During five of the focus group discussions, at least one participant voluntarily informed the group that they had hepatitis B or C, and in most of the focus group discussions at least one participant referred to a family member or friend who had experienced hepatitis infection. The key informant, focus group and GP data were highly convergent, each source tending to affirm and extend findings from the others.
