He wanted to be a Marine. That life ended, he said, eight miles south of Baghdad in 1991 when his right leg caught some flying shrapnel. His military career shattered, reeling from post-traumatic stress, Gordon said he turned to alcohol. Trouble followed. In the two decades that followed, Gordon racked up a long list of offenses. His Massachusetts driving record lists dozens of infractions dating back to the 1980s. Now the 42-year-old Portsmouth Republican is facing calls for his resignation after his arrest last week on charges stemming from a 2008 police chase and the criminal record that came to light afterward. Gordon insists he’s reformed. “I’ve made some terrible mistakes,’’ he said. But questions about Gordon’s past persist.

Gordon said the file is incomplete, and that photos that could prove his story were destroyed in a 2005 house fire when he lived in Fall River, Mass. Stealth Tech, Facebook Revolutions, Shadow Wars: The Most Dangerous Year Ever.

Wisconsin group offers $10K reward for info about destroyed recall petitions

DolanTuesday, November 22, 2011 18:44 EDT The group One Wisconsin Now announced Tuesday it would offer a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any individual guilty of fraudulently destroying or defacing recall petitions. “We cannot allow democracy to be threatened by those who would illegally destroy recall petitions with valid signatures on them,” said Scot Ross, One Wisconsin Now Executive Director. “We intend to keep the public informed about its rights during the signature gathering process and alert those who would engage in illegal conduct that they do so at their own peril.” Wisconsin Democrats on November 15 launched a campaign to recall Wisconsin Gov. Destroying a recall petition is a class I felony in Wisconsin, which carries a maximum fine of $10,000 and up to three-and-a-half years in jail.

Democrats need to collect 540,206 valid signatures in a 60-day period to force a recall election against Walker. Eric W. Eric W.

China seeks military bases in Pak's restive tribal region - The Economic Times

The Chinese desire is aimed at containing the growing terrorist activities of Chinese rebels of the al-Qaeda-linked East Turkestan Islamic Movement, The News daily quoted diplomatic sources as saying. The Chinese rebels want an independent Islamic state and are reportedly being trained in Pakistan's tribal areas. China's wish to have a military presence in Pakistan was discussed at length by the political and military leadership of both countries in recent months as Beijing has become more concerned about the Pakistan's tribal belt serving as a haven for radicals, the report said. The Pakistani visits were reciprocated by a visit to Islamabad by Chinese Vice Premier Meng Jianzhu.
