The 16-year-old, who has already shown a similar igloo at the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, used jackets collected from the shores of Lesbos – the Greek island that has become a regular landing place for refugees entering Europe. While his first igloo used 52 jackets, his SOS Save Our Souls structure is made from 1,000 abandoned garments. Souras cut and folded the jackets to resemble blocks of ice before assembling them together. The resulting waterproof structure is intended as both a shelter and a welcome point for arriving migrants. "The refugee crisis was simply a set of numbers on the news," said the artist, who was born in London and now resides in Barcelona. "But when I picked a jacket up, it stopped being just material. Argument Clinic. Two poems evoking TOK. You shall no longer take things at second or third hand, nor look through the eyes of the dead, nor feed on the spectres in books, You shall not look through my eyes either, nor take things from me, You shall listen to all sides and filter them from your self… Not I, not any one else can travel that road for you, You must travel it for yourself.

It is not far, it is within reach, Perhaps you have been on it since you were born and did not know… Walt Whitman: From Song of Myself (1855) The man bent over his guitar, A shearsman of sorts. The day was green. They said, "You have a blue guitar, You do not play things as they are. " The man replied, "Things as they are Are changed upon the blue guitar. From dead parrots to The Meaning of Life, Monty Python covered a lot of territory.

Monty Python's Best Philosophy Sketches

Educated at Oxford and Cambridge, the Pythons made a habit of weaving arcane intellectual references into the silliest of sketches. A classic example is “Mrs. Premise and Mrs. Conclusion Visit Jean-Paul Sartre,” (above) from episode 27 of Monty Python’s Flying Circus. The sketch features writing partners John Cleese as Mrs. Another classic is the “Philosopher’s Drinking Song,” shown above in a scene from Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl. In the sketch, members of the philosophy department at the “University of Woolloomooloo” lead the audience in singing, “Immanuel Kant was a real pissant who was very rarely stable; Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar who could think you under the table…” And one of our favorites: “The Philosophers’ Football Match” (above), a filmed sequence from Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl, pitting the Ancient Greeks against the Germans, with Confucius as referee. Lettuce See the Future: Japanese Farmer Builds...

But a freak summer storm or bad drought can still mar many a well-planted harvest. Not anymore, says Japanese plant physiologist Shigeharu Shimamura, who has moved industrial-scale farming under the roof. Working in Miyagi Prefecture in eastern Japan, which was badly hit by powerful earthquake and tsunamis in 2011, Shimamura turned a former Sony Corporation semiconductor factory into the world’s largest indoor farm illuminated by LEDs. The special LED fixtures were developed by GE and emit light at wavelengths optimal for plant growth. The farm is nearly half the size of a football field (25,000 square feet).

The farm uses 17,500 LED lights spread over 18 cultivation racks reaching 15 levels high. The LED lights are a key part of the farm’s magic. Shimamura says that the systems allows him to grow lettuce full of vitamins and minerals two-and-a-half times faster than an outdoor farm. Shigeharu Shimamura shows his produce.
