It, to me, really does taste like a light chocolate sponge cake. It has a chocolate flavor to it, but it also has a light sweet flavor I can only liken to some sort of cake or cream base. Perhaps this is caused by the coconut. The maté is definitely present, more so than I expected, but it adds a really nice roasted flavor to the end of every sip. It does hide some of the oolong taste, which is probably the only downside to this tea, however I can definitely taste a light oolong. Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea at Teavana. Gyokuro bushes are covered in shade two weeks before harvesting, which creates a light but very complex blend and a luscious deep dark green color.
