It’s such an easy one, and there’s a reason why so many of my friends have tried it on their own (even one this weekend!) — it’s incredibly simple, only takes a few minutes, and it’s foolproof for even the most beginner cook. And so beautiful! I actually made this a few weeks ago and brought it over to a friend’s house for dinner — it was such a pretty, easy, last minute addition! This weekend was SO busy doing stuff for our new house before we move, and I am flat-out exhausted. I can’t believe how much there is to do — but it’s so exciting at the same time! Asparagus Gruyere Tart INGREDIENTS Flour, for rolling the puff pastry 1 sheet frozen puff pastry 1 tbsp olive oil 2 cups Gruyere cheese, shredded 1 pound asparagus Coarse sea salt Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Trim the bottoms of the asparagus (they should snap off in your hands when bent). Adapted from Martha Stewart’s Everyday Food. SPROUTED KITCHEN - A Tastier Take on Whole Foods. Warm Pumpkin & Coconut Muffins. We have an old couch in our living room that both Luise and I loathe. Once upon a time it was all white and pretty, but now the fabric has more of a grey nuance and the design feels just simply boring. You might think that it at least is comfortable. But believe me, it is not. It’s too wide for two people and too narrow for three. The cushions have never ever been soft and the armrests have always been too high. And therefore it is painfully uncomfortable to lay down in. Yesterday we baked gluten free and dairy free pumpkin muffins that Elsa gladly shattered over the couch as she jumped from one of the armrests while shouting “Jag är busiiiiig!” We used the leftover pumpkin puree and coconut milk in a soup, together with some lemon and rosemary.

Vanilla cheesecake with strawberry compote. 8th December 2011By GuestPhotography by Adam A few weeks ago the industrial design team in Dunedin had a shared morning tea to celebrate a couple of birthdays. Annie made this beautiful cheesecake; it was so good we persuaded her to share her secret recipe with everyone! “I can’t remember ever having cheesecake when I was little… my mum wasn’t that into food; cooking or baking was merely a chore to her. Her signature dish was a sponge cake, but made from an instant cake packet – add some water and eggs and voila! It most certainly wouldn’t have any icing.

“This cake requires a few hours cooling before serving so is best made the day before. -- Take all ingredients out of the fridge an hour before starting. Breakstone's Holiday Recipe - Creamy Pumpkin Soup Shooters. You may remember back in the spring when I did some work creating a tablescape and holiday recipe for Breakstone’s Sour Cream and Better Homes & Gardens. I have joined together with these two great organizations again for a fun, 4 part, holiday showdown. You can find out about this Holiday Showdown event by visiting the Better Homes & Gardens website. In short, 2 other bloggers and I have each created a unique holiday menu using Breakstone’s sour cream. We’ve each been tasked with creating an appetizer, main dish, and dessert recipe using Breakstone’s sour cream as an ingredient.

For the appetizer portion of the showdown, I have created Creamy Pumpkin Soup Shooters. Creamy Pumpkin Soup Shooters can also be served in large bowls as a traditional soup. Everyone loves pumpkin this time of year. Head over to the Breakstone’s Better Homes & Gardens Holiday Showdown page to cast your vote. Recipe: Creamy Pumpkin Soup Shooters. Sundried Tomato and Artichoke Capellini. A little bite Running With Tweezers. Running With Tweezers. Pineapple Gin Punch. I wish I could go back in time and tell my 21 year old self that I would develop a thing for gin in my early 30s. For a long period of time I thought gin tasted like one of those pine tree air fresheners. My head immediately went to that scene in Seven. Yeah… I was such a brat every time Casey tried to get me to try some. Sorry, honey. If I liked gin sooner, I wouldn’t have had a whole decade of drinking Jack Daniels under my belt.

Jack Daniels might be the reason why I’m partially crazy. Which is a good thing because you are here now to witness it. Thank you, Jack Daniels. I made this Pineapple Gin Punch with my Mexican Popcorn. It is the opposite of Jack Daniels. It’s slightly feminine, a bit mature, unexpected and it might have a son named Cooper.

Why is this drink turning into 32 year old Tracy? And we’re off! Ingredient gathering! Blend mint, 1 cup of pineapple juice & sugar together. Pour the green stuff in a pitcher with the rest of the pineapple juice. Juice your limes! Linguine with Lemon-Roasted Asparagus and Goat Cheese. A Cozy Kitchen. Recipe index. Dippy Eggs and Soldiers « kiss my spatula | food + photography. When we first discovered farm fresh eggs down the street from our Island home back in Washington, my husband suggested it would be THE perfect opportunity to make Dippy Eggs and Soldiers. Huh? Flummoxed, I looked at him, scratching my head, and for the next 30 minutes, he recounted stories about who the legendary Soldiers were and why exactly these fine fellas would be joining us for Sunday breakfast. I still didn’t get it. But, nevertheless, decided to take his word for it. We dusted off the egg cups from the drawer of kitchen tchotchkes, in order to prep them for their on-screen debut. Weekend breakfast is taken rather seriously at our humble abode. Suddenly, my under-cover menu planning was interrupted. One dip into this perfectly cooked, gooey, thing of wonder — and, Hallelujah – I get it. Don’t forget to set your timer when cooking these bad boys.

The first time I tried going paleo there was one meal I really struggled with. If you’ve ever had an attempt at eating low carb or going ‘full paleo’, I bet you’ve struggled with this too.

Yep. Breakfast. Breakkie. Now I think about it, when I went vegan for a week, breakfast was the most tricky then too. This time, my experiment of eating full paleo for a month, breakfasts have been relatively easy. Since moving to our little farm last year and getting a flock of chooks (that’s chickens for you non-Australians!) There’s something so great about having a proper breakfast of poached eggs and some veggies. I love it. But even I can’t have eggs for breakfast every single day, so I thought I’d share my fave breakkie ideas for when eggs aren’t an option… 6 Egg-Free Low Carb / Paleo Breakfast Ideas 1. No-Bake Grilled Vegetable Lasagna. Garden Recipes, Healthy Eating, Italian, Main Dish, Pasta, Quick Meals, Vegetarian | 13 comments I love lasagna. But really, turning the oven on for that long in the summer just isn’t an option. Then I saw this recipe featured in Jaden’s TLC column and I couldn’t believe I hadn’t thought of the idea for a No-Bake Lasagna. DUH! The grilled vegetables just alone tossed with some feta would be a great, simple salad! I made a few adaptations. First, I grilled the vegetables and instead of just zucchini I decided to add some yellow squash too for color. This recipe for No-Bake Grilled Vegetable Lasagna is one seriously good meal.

Umami Girl | A food blog by Carolyn Cope. Chef Jenn. Grilled Guacamole Recipe - StumbleUpon. Grilled Guacmole? Ummmm. Heck yes!! I made this recently for Tasty Kitchen and it was gooooood. You need to make it. Immediately. It’s life changing. And then throw some rice chips with it and call it a meal… And… wanna hear something really exciting. Okay….here’s the step by step for Grilled Guacamole: You need to prepare either your indoor or outdoor grill. Once the avocados have some grill marks, throw a few slices of red onion on the grill to char. Next up, let’s grill some tomato quarters! Once we’ve got everything grilled and set aside, place the avocado into a bowl and give it a quick mash. Next, grate some garlic over the avocado. Be sure to get all that fabulous garlic from the bottom side of your grater. Next, juice a lime or two over the avocado. Add the chopped red onion. And then the tomatoes! Throw in some chopped cilantro.

Season the guac with some salt and a few turns of freshly cracked black pepper. And serve it up with some of your favorite chips!! In Erika's Kitchen. Italian Potato Salad. Hey friends, we are writing this from an apartment in Barcelona. It will only be a short post today since we are on our way to the Gràcia neighborhood and we can hardly wait to get out the door.

Before we left, we shot this Italian potato salad for our friend Damaris’ blog Kitchen Corners. It’s 31 days of salads over there and we have definitely found a couple of new favorites, so check it out. We spent some time with Damaris and her family in Santa Cruz, when we were traveling in California last year. Since then, she and her family has moved to Brazil and we are so jealous of their beach life! This salad is truly an old favorite of ours. Sometimes we add a dash of white wine vinegar to intensify the flavor, or some black beans to add some protein.
