L’opération 1 jour, 1 brève est en place sur le site internet mpt2013.fr depuis le premier janvier 2013. Nous souhaitons faire appel aux compétences d’un animateur de communauté ( Community Manager ) qui nous permette de renforcer nos liens avec les sites partenaires de notre opération ( Images des Maths , Interstices ), mais surtout d’accroître la diffusion de nos brèves sur les réseaux sociaux (principalement Facebook mais aussi Twitter). En particulier, son activité sera focalisée sur les publics concernés par l’opération 1 jour, 1 brève , et non pas sur les autres acteurs de la médiation scientifique au niveau national. NASA, and plenty of private individuals , want to put mankind on Mars. Now a team at the University of Washington being funded by the space agency is about to start building a fusion engine that could get humans there in just 30 days and make other forms of space travel obsolete. Rocket fuel is just so last century "Using existing rocket fuels, it's nearly impossible for humans to explore much beyond Earth," said lead researcher John Slough, a UW research associate professor of aeronautics and astronautics in a statement .

Chinese physicists measure speed of Einstein’s ‘spooky action at a distance’: At least 10,000 times faster than light
A team of Chinese physicists have clocked the speed of spooky action at a distance — the seemingly instantaneous interaction between entangled quantum particles — at more than four orders of magnitude faster than light. Their equipment and methodology doesn’t allow for an exact speed, but four orders of magnitude puts the figure at around 3 trillion meters per second. Spooky action at a distance was a term coined by Einstein to describe how entangled quantum particles seem to interact with each other instantaneously, over any distance, breaking the speed of light and thus relativity. As of our current understanding of quantum mechanics, though, it is impossible to send data using quantum entanglement, preserving the theory of relativity.
Mythical Viking 'Sunstone' could have really worked: study
Bringing the realm of ancient myth into reality, scientists say they have found evidence that the Vikings could have used a 'sunstone' crystal to navigate from northern Europe to North America. Researchers from the University of Rennes in France say a calcite crystal that was discovered in the wreckage of a 421-year-old ship could be the substance once thought to be no more than an ancient Viking myth. The crystal – called an Iceland spar-- was found 30 years ago amid the wreckage of a ship that sunk off the coast of Alderney in the Channel Islands in 1592. Alan Friedman is a fascinating guy. By day he’s a maker of greeting cards and a lover of hats , but in his spare time he’s a self-proclaimed space cowboy who points a telescope skyward from his backyard in downtown Buffalo, directly into the light of the sun. Using special filters attached to his camera Friedman captures some of the most lovely details of the Sun’s roiling surface. The raw images are colorless and often blurry requiring numerous hours of coloring, adjusting and finessing to tease out the finest details, the results of which hardly resemble what I imagine the 5,500 degree (Celsius) surface of Sun might look like.

Neural Correlates of Lyrical Improvisation: An fMRI Study of Freestyle Rap : Scientific Reports
In this study, we used fMRI to investigate the neural correlates of spontaneous lyrical improvisation by comparing spontaneous freestyle rap to conventional rehearsed performance. Our results reveal characteristic patterns of activity associated with this novel form of lyrical improvisation, and may also provide more general insights into the creative process itself. It has been suggested that the creative behaviors could occur in two stages: an improvisatory phase characterized by generation of novel material and a phase in which this material is re-evaluated and revised 1 .It’s been one year since Apple co-founder Steve Jobs died.
