Very Vanilla Valentine's Cheesecake | Independent Watkins Assoc #393833 - Jan Couto. Love at first bite. SUCH an overworked expression, but still… when you’re talking cheesecake, the tiniest bite is capable of sending you into paroxysms of ardor. The richness of the cream cheese! The delightful interplay of tangy and sweet; the barely crunchy crust cradling its ultra-smooth filling… Be still, my heart! There’s one problem with a traditional cheesecake, though; it’s REALLY hard to serve it in really small pieces.
Just try cutting a 1/4” slice of a round cheesecake… not happening, right? Take that same luscious cheesecake, though, bake it in a square pan, and all of a sudden it’s easy to have, literally, “just a tiny bite.” A 1” x 1” cube of cheesecake? Before you start: you’ll want to have 16 ounces (two large packages) of cream cheese at room temperature; so give yourself a couple of hours for this to happen. Preheat the oven to 375°F. First, the crust. 1 1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs, about 8 whole crackers 4 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar 1/8 teaspoon salt No slumping! Popsicles! Not to sound full of myself, but I’m pretty sure this is the be all, end all of popsicle roundups.
There’s a little something for everyone: the foodies, the purists, the ones who prefer frozen yogurt, the ones who prefer a little alcohol, everyone. Tweny-five options to be exact. The post I did last summer on the cold guys was one of DC’s most viewed ever, so I thought you’d all be up for another round – was I right? Click on the photo to be taken to the recipe. Foodbuzz 24, 24, 24: Chinese Buffet at Home. It is no secret that I have an obsession with Chinese cuisine. The place that started it all was a local Chinese buffet here in Michigan. After frequent visits to the buffet over the years, I finally decided to take a stab at cooking my own Chinese dishes at home. The majority of the dishes were delicious and I began cooking different Chinese meals every week, but I had always wanted more variety just like the buffet.
I had always wondered, “what if I could create a Chinese buffet at home?” I have wanted to do this for along time so I was very excited when I was chosen to be part of the 24,24,24 event presented by Foodbuzz. In this article I will explain how to create your own Chinese buffet at home. I went to see tUnE-yArDs on Monday night with some friends, and as always we wanted to cook a meal that somehow related to the show we were heading to. Sometimes this is hard to do, but other times it seems to come naturally. Finding culinary inspiration in Merrill's lyrics seemed like it would be tough, but my sister knew what she wanted to make without hesitation. "How about something layered, because of all the vocal and instrument layering in the music? " From there we worked together to come up with this deep, colorful, and multi-flavored lasagna version of a timpano.
If you are using words like deep, colorful, and multi-flavored to describe something inspired by tUnE-yArDs, you already know you got it right! Start by making a lasagna crust. Finally got it together. Now it's easy, just start building the layers! Alfredo sauce with some salami goes first. After 3 alfredo layers, I switched to pesto. A cheese only layer, just for fun. Tomato sauce is last. All sealed up. After baking. Not So Idle Hands, Crafts from the Crafty. Not So Idle Hands Search Results for: label/chocolate Sorry, no content matched your criteria.

Cookies and Cream Oreo Bark. A Charlie Brown Christmas Sugar Cookies. In case the title or the Snoopy cookie didn't give it away, the theme of this year's Christmas sugar cookies is A Charlie Brown Christmas. This was my favorite Christmas TV Special when I was a kid, and it is still my favorite to this day. Mr. Apron and I own the DVD and it is one of the first Christmas movies we watch after Thanksgiving to put us in the holiday spirit.
When I found a Snoopy cookie cutter I knew I had to make these cookies. But I didn't want to just make Snoopy cookies. When Mr. Apron and I were watching A Charlie Brown Christmas, I came up with the idea of adding other cookies also inspired by the movie. The Snoopy Cookies were not hard to make. For the colored lights on the dog house I used sugar pearls. The Snoopy cookies are final cookie in this year's theme. The first cookies were the snowflake cookies. There were two scenes that gave me the idea for the snowflake cookies. The second cookie was Christmas Trees in green, pink and blue. Want to eat a BIG bowl of cookie dough? If you received an email from Pinterest saying I didn’t want you to pin my recipes, this is NOT true!
I am so sorry for this and have no idea why they would send such messages out! Please accept my apologies… I’m so honored when people pin things from my site or follow my Chocolate Covered Katie Pinterest Board. Healthy Cookie Dough Dip… it’s like an unbaked form of those popular White Bean Chickpea Blondies. I don’t know about you, but when I make the blondies, quite a bit of the raw dough gets consumed in the process! So I figured, why bother baking them at all? Especially with the summer weather approaching, this cookie dough dip is a great way to get your blondie fix without turning on the oven. But will “normal” people like it? Often, I’m unsure if a recipe with which I am in love will be a hit with the general population of people who aren’t used to healthy food. The following is directly from my About Chocolate Covered Katie page. I brought this healthy cookie dough dip to a party.
Heidi's So-Called Life: Pecan Pie Cheesecake. I haven't shared a recipe in eons, so its time to share one with you! I've been terrible about taking food pictures lately, so the one above is the only one I happened to snap with my iPhone (I had to brag to my friends on Facebook what lovin' was going in the oven that night! I couldn't be a bigger dork if you paid me to try...) Anyhow, Lance was on the verge of deploying. Again. A few days before Thanksgiving, no less, so we decided to have an early Thanksgiving while he was still home. For years now I have been making a pumpkin cheesecake for feasting day rather than your traditional pumpkin pie, but this year I decided to try something new. This cheesecake was phenomenal! A must try! Pecan Pie Cheesecake Crust: Preheat oven to 350°. Pecan Filling: Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan. Cheesecake Filling: Reduce oven to 325°. **Note: I always end up having a mushy crust whenever I try to do a water bath for my cheesecakes - I guess I just don't wrap the pan well enough in foil.
Most gawked all-time. How To Make Perfect Brownies. I’ve tried lots of brownie recipes: Boxes, scratch, frosted, plain, nuts, chips, fudge … Each of them has something to like, but depending on my mood I might want a change of pace. Not any more. Stir in the chocolate chips. Line a 9×13 baking dish with parchment. Pour the batter and spread it out. Bake at 325° for 20-30 minutes. Very carefully lift the parchment out of the baking dish. Kids can be frustratingly picky eaters. They can also have highly entertaining quirks. My niece used to ask for pepperoni pizza and then proceed to discard all of the pepperoni. But don’t you dare suggest that she order plain cheese pizza! She did not want plain cheese pizza. She wanted pepperoni pizza. Un-Pepperoni Pizza. But when you wrap pepperoni pizza into a fun, savory, pull-apart style bread, it’s no longer “icky” pepperoni pizza. I’ve had these Pizza Bites bookmarked for ages, so when I finally found an excuse to make them, I wanted to take it in a slightly different direction: a savory monkey bread. A very light coating of garlicky butter-covered pepperoni pizza bites, piled into a bundt cake pan, makes for a very fun Pepperoni Pizza.
Or Pepperoni Un-Pizza. You can take the long route and make your favorite pizza dough and marinara sauce, or the short route and pick up your favorite pizza dough and red sauce from the store. Binary I Love You Red and Black 8 X 10 Geek by TheWallaroo. Would a pie by any other name taste as sweet? Yes – if it’s Apple Slab. Apple Slab. Fairly rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it? I doubt anything I’ve ever baked has a less compelling name. But truth be told, it wasn’t the name that attracted me. It was an email from a reader wanting to re-create something his grandmother had made decades ago. This reader – I remember his name was Frank, though unfortunately I’ve long since lost his email – recalled “an apple pie baked in a rectangular pan, with a thinner than normal layer of apples and a white glaze on top.” Hmmm, shouldn’t be hard to figure out. Which I did fairly easily, simply by Googling “apple pie rectangular glazed.”
Kind of. So many recipes, so little time… Apple Slab had to wait its turn. Hmmm, speaking of Bienenstich – there’s another one waiting in the wings. Even when you work in the King Arthur test kitchen, there’s STILL not time to bake everything on your “sounds good” list. Back to Apple Slab – which finally made its way to the top of the pile.
Yup, that was it. The result? Fold in half… Unfold. Cut. Crockpot French Onion Soup. Since I gave you a 14 hour recipe yesterday, I figured today we’d make it a little shorter. You know… like 9 hours. But! At least this time you won’t have to cover your entire kitchen in flour, spend four days digging dough out from under your nails, scrub melted burned butter off the bottom of your oven and give the entire recipe you made to someone else because you can’t be trusted around it. This time you can just throw it in a big pot and forget about it. And drink beer while you’re at it. I can’t believe there was a time in my life that I didn’t think I liked onions. And even though I used to think I didn’t care for them?
I still ordered french onion soup anyway. All I could think was… sign me up for that! For years after, I ordered french onion soup… and only ate the bread and cheese. I liked that set up. Then, as I’ve detailed before – much like his Diet Mountain Dew habit, my husband developed an addiction to caramelized onions and asked for them on everything. Caramely onions?
