"Terry was first of all an enormous enthusiast," Sir Michael told the BBC. "He threw himself into things with such passion and such energy, and he really refused to take on things which didn't excite him and which didn't feel different from what else was around. "Part of his warmth was his love of all sorts of things and comedies - he knew an awful lot about the silent film comedians.

There were so many aspects to Terry, but I would say enthusiasm and passion were the two main words that described him best. "We had some very strange and silly moments together over the years. I never had a client asking me to take photographs of their parents or grandparents or even photos of their children and parents. So I decided to divide my work time into two parts. I spent one half of my month photographing my clients the way they wanted me to and the other half was dedicated to requesting grandparents and great-grandparents (who I would invite via model calls or would randomly approach in public places) to come and be photographed by me with their grandkids. On one such shoot in Houston, Texas, this year, I noticed that while I was photographing one grandparent with their grandchild, the other grandparent was just standing silently in a corner. So, for the sake of their memories together, I asked both grandparents if I could photograph them together... and I haven't stopped doing that now. Have you ever wished you could fast-forward your life so you could see if the decisions you’re making will lead to satisfaction and health in the future? In the world of scientific research, the closest you can get to that is by looking at the Harvard Study of Adult Development — a study that has tracked the lives of 724 men for 78 years, and one of the longest studies of adult life ever done. Investigators surveyed the group every two years about their physical and mental health, their professional lives, their friendships, their marriages — and also subjected them to periodic in-person interviews, medical exams, blood tests and brain scans. With a front-row seat on these men’s lives, researchers have been able to track their circumstances and choices and see how the effects ripple through their lives. 1. 2. 3. 4.

Now may not be the time. “I’ve been floored by the response,” she says. It was the latter grandparent who inspired Close’s first screen performance, back in 1982, in The World According to Garp; she played Robin Williams’s pioneering feminist mother, though she was in fact only four years older than him.
