Pin it! We’ve had our fair share of rain and thunderstorms in these parts lately. It’s been good for setting the mood when developing some recipes for fall and such, but more importantly it’s made for some cozy , very high quality mornings. Once we get into spring + summer, my days of sit-down breakfasts promptly come to a close. Sometimes I like to fix up a raw chia pudding or buckwheat porridge, but generally coffee/tea is just fine right away, and then maybe I’ll have a smoothie or some fruit (or a pastry, cuz sometimes you got to) later on.

Every week there are more things to do with new challenges, and in this season of life it feels like that notion has exploded times a thousand. Vegan BBQ lentils with millet “polenta” Pin it!

Pin it! Growing into a lifetime partnership is everything at once. Illuminating, life-giving, maddening, a developed + particular sense of humour, unpredictable breaking points, ordering pizza when the fridge is full and feeling kinda meh about it because you’re two capable adults, facing criticism for a shitty thing you did without rising to the occasion (even when it’s hard), saying I love you just because, and saying I love you when the situation could not be more serious. There’s plenty to read on how true and honest love can be ugly; that you have to understand, accept and work through the weaker moments. Red pepper season is in full swing which means we buy 5-6 peppers a week to roast, grill, stuff or simply dip into hummus. Your fork is waiting. Chickpea Shawarma Recipe with Millet. Sorghum Salad with Curry-Roasted Winter Squash and Crispy Chickpeas

This salad stands up well on its own, but can be accompanied by some crusty bread to round it out. If you don’t have California Olive Ranch’s Miller’s Blend olive oil, any nice olive oil will do, but we think it gives the dish a little extra something. Want to know more about Sorghum? Spiced pumpkin + millet porridge {gluten-free + vegan} + pics from America! My recent trip to America opened my eyes more than I ever could have imagined. Here in Australia and back home in NZ we are surrounded by all things American from a very young age, much to my Dads disgust (he wouldn't let us watch trashy US shows on telly when we were little!).

I've grown up knowing all the American terms for things such as 'trunk' (boot), 'cilantro' (coriander) and 'cab' (taxi) so in many ways America already felt a little familiar to me before going (it's also the first English speaking country I've ever travelled to, other than Australia which made it nice and easy), but there was something that really took me by surprise. I'm not exaggerating when I say that each and every person I had contact with (except maybe that homeless guy in Union Square, who yelled abuse at me.

I didn't take offense. He yelled at everybody) was so ridiculously polite, helpful, generous and respectful. Vegas was mad! Much love xx Emm. Roasted pumpkin, millet + herb patties.
