Sexism may be harmful to men's mental health. Men who see themselves as playboys or as having power over women are more likely to have psychological problems than men who conform less to traditionally masculine norms, according to research published by the American Psychological Association.

Sexism may be harmful to men's mental health

"In general, individuals who conformed strongly to masculine norms tended to have poorer mental health and less favorable attitudes toward seeking psychological help, although the results differed depending on specific types of masculine norms," said lead author Y. Joel Wong, PhD, of Indiana University Bloomington.

The study was published in the Journal of Counseling Psychology. Wong and his colleagues conducted a meta-analysis of 78 research samples involving 19,453 participants that focused on the relationship between mental health and conformity to 11 norms generally considered by experts to reflect society's expectations of traditional masculinity: • desire to win • need for emotional control • risk-taking • violence • dominance • self-reliance. Will these symptoms ever go away? (chronic illness and psychiatric drug withdrawal syndrome) – Everything Matters: Beyond Meds

I NEVER had any of these symptoms prior to meds or during meds. I guess the thing I worry about is if your body can truly heal from these symptoms. CBD-Infused Cannabis Milk Soothes Anxiety And Is Hitting Stores Soon. By Amanda Froelich, Natural Blaze For a long time, green juice and green smoothies were considered to be the ‘peak’ of what one seeking to nourish their body could consume.

While both offer numerous benefits, there’s a newly created beverage that is bound to become the populace’s favorite. Whereas THC – the component in marijuana responsible for getting you ‘high’ – is illegal in most U.S. states, cannabidiol (CBD) is not. In fact, CBD oil is renowned for its many medicinal effects. One of the many chemical compounds found within cannabis, CBD is non-psychoactive and has been proven in studies to benefit anxiety.

Because CBD oil is even listed on the U.S. Detoxification (which is really about balancing the internal ecosystem): healthy living for body/mind/spirit – Everything Matters: Beyond Meds. We are, in large part, and among many other things, an expression of the ecosystem of our bodies which include bacteria, virus, fungi and other parasites.

Detoxification (which is really about balancing the internal ecosystem): healthy living for body/mind/spirit – Everything Matters: Beyond Meds

Successful “detoxification” is really largely about bringing these microorganisms and the rest of our being into balance since most of them cannot be gotten rid of entirely in any case. In many instances we don’t want to get rid of them as in the right amount they serve a good function. We are all made up of these things in different ratios by design, really. Getting healthy is getting them into manageable healthy ratios…or also about cutting off supply to those we’d rather not have. The first step is simply a healthy diet that cuts out processed foods and concentrates on whole naturally grown foods. The concept of detoxifying the body is a highly controversial one and that’s just the way it is in the west.

The Opposite of Addiction is Connection. Right now an exciting new perspective on addiction is emerging.

The Opposite of Addiction is Connection

Johann Harri, author of Chasing The Scream, recently captured widespread public interest with his Ted talk Everything You Know About Addiction Is Wrong, where he concluded with this powerful statement: “The opposite of addiction is not sobriety. The opposite of addiction is connection.” – Johann Harri These sentiments are augmented by a growing number of experts, including addiction specialist Dr Gabor Maté, who cites ’emotional loss and trauma’ as the core of addiction. What will it take to wake up these hacks? – Everything Matters: Beyond Meds.

As I heal and come to more deeply understand and learn about exactly what happened to my brain on psych drugs I am devastated again and again.

What will it take to wake up these hacks? – Everything Matters: Beyond Meds

We are committing crimes of abuse, violence and harm every time we tell people they must be on psych drugs and offer them no options… The more I am healed from the brain injury the psych drugs incurred, the deeper is the revelation of ignorance and insanity within psychiatry. I may no longer be enraged because I realize the profound ignorance and fear that motivates psychiatry, but I’m more and more dismayed… What will it take to wake up these hacks…these dangerous quacks who meter out death and destruction upon some of our most vulnerable?

What will it take? My cells are crying out in the knowledge that so many are still being harmed. Medicating Women’s Feelings. Photo WOMEN are moody.

Medicating Women’s Feelings

By evolutionary design, we are hard-wired to be sensitive to our environments, empathic to our children’s needs and intuitive of our partners’ intentions. This is basic to our survival and that of our offspring. Chronic illness is trauma embodied – Beyond Meds. Chronic illness is trauma embodied.

It’s FEAR. Unraveling the fear from our biology by calming the amygdala in any number of possible ways is the healing process. An example, for me, migraine (splitting headache) represents early split in the psyche. Now so ingrained into the physical the unraveling of it is enormous… Trauma embeds itself…both intergenerationally (via epigenetics) and by whatever we incur in this life-time as individuals. When we unravel it we heal. This is the reason shamanistic traditions work with the ancestors…they have understood the nature of epigenetics for millennia.

Natural Alternatives To Xanax, Ativan, And Anti-Anxiety Drugs. Anxiety has reached epidemic proportions in the United States with over 40 million people affected.

Natural Alternatives To Xanax, Ativan, And Anti-Anxiety Drugs

Anxiety disorders cost the U.S. more than $42 billion a year, almost one-third of the country’s total mental health bill. Every year, millions of prescriptions are written for anti-anxiety medications like Xanax and Ativan making them some of the most commonly prescribed drugs. They belong to a group of drugs known as the benzodiazepines. The exact mechanism by which benzodiazepines work is not fully understood, but it’s believed they raise levels of the calming neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) or increase GABA receptor sensitivity.

Other medications that belong in this group, commonly referred to as “benzos,” include brand names such as Centrax, Dalmane, Klonopin, Librium, Paxipam, Restoril, Serax, Tranxene, and Valium. These drugs can stop anxiety or a panic attack in its tracks. Report Shows “Staggering” Signs of Ill Mental Health Among 9/11 First Responders. After all, you trust your child’s doctor, what’s to question?

Unfortunately, most parents are not told that these pharmaceuticals can unleash a host of unpleasant, if not dangerous, side-effects — including increased anger, depression, fogginess, as well as seizures, paranoia, tics and psychosis. 5 Tips for Attending a Yoga or Fitness Class With PTSD. I recently wrote a piece about my experience in a yoga training where my Post Traumatic Stress Disorder was triggered. Along with the incredible support and feedback from the community, I was honored by many people sharing their own stories of anxiety and PTSD, and asking where and how they could find yoga classes that were safe for them. I answered as many as I could (and please feel welcome to reach out to me and I’ll connect you to my network), but I want to address how to find safe classes and create secure environments so that we can feel confident going into new yoga or fitness related situations. I spent eight hours in the waiting room with a patient wristband secured at the end of my newly-scarred arm, with no access to any of my possessions except a book, my journal, and my phone. Every exit was locked and permission was needed to leave, and if I wanted to step out for a smoke, I’d need accompaniment in order to ensure that I’d return.
