Astronomers discover star racing around black hole at Milky Way center UCLA astronomers report the discovery of a remarkable star that orbits the enormous black hole at the center of our Milky Way galaxy in a blistering 11-and-a-half years—the shortest known orbit of any star near this black hole. The star, known as S0-102, may help astronomers discover whether Albert Einstein was right in his fundamental prediction of how black holes warp space and time, said research co-author Andrea Ghez, leader of the discovery team and a UCLA professor of physics and astronomy who holds the Lauren B. Leichtman and Arthur E. Levine Chair in Astrophysics. The research is published Oct. 5 in the journal Science.

In his opening speech, titled “Facing Facts: What’s Wrong with the Current World Order!”, Dr. Ismail Serageldin started by questioning the problems and contradictions that the world faces today and which affect various countries.

5th International forum Writings, Calligraphies and Incriptions On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (2002-2012) the Calligraphy Center is intending to organize "The Fifth International Forum of writings and inscriptions" entitled "The Inscriptions and Writings in the Cities and Deserts of North Africa", in cooperation with Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Alex Med). The Forum aims at studying the writings and inscriptions in the cities and deserts of North Africa, within this framework, it will cover the studies related to the writings and inscriptions according to a certain axis in: Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco and Mauritania. A series of specialized lectures will be delivered by a group of specialists. Thus, such forum allows the possibility of exchanging experiences and information on both the regional and global levels.
