Documentation - XML Reference The scene elements are technically something like 'inline-xml' files. They can be used to define the content of a full krpano xml file again inside the current xml file. It is like a external xml, but just inlined / embedded into the current xml. iClone5 What's New - Real-time 3D Animation Version 5.4 brings iClone into a new era of facial animation. With the powerful new features, it allows you to lip-sync, and animate facial motions for any character. Its improved motion editing capabilities will help you animate easier thanks to its new bone settings. "HTML5" versus Flash: Animation Benchmarking 22 March 2010 I've written before about why you shouldn't let your current toolset dictate what it is you create and I still firmly hold to that mantra. Some of my more recent work has revolved heavily around animation (real-time, interactive motion graphics, to be precise). When approaching such a project I don't have any particular technology in mind, but I do have a very exacting idea of what it should look like and how it should behave. Based upon that idea I can then choose how I want to do it.

Assistance in picking colors and charts A few years ago I have used Cindy Brewer’s ColorBrewer system for picking the right color scheme for graphics, based on experience from cartography. Recently, it has also been made into a R library. In particular, ColorBrewer distinguishes three types of color schemes: diverging, quantitative and qualitative: Diverging blurs out the mean (appropriate for visualizing normally distributed real variables, or also correlations with color), quantitative blurs out the zero (appropriate for visualizing exponentially distributed positive variables with color), and qualitative makes it easy to distinguish adjacent values (appropriate for categorical variables). ColorBrewer provides guidelines with respect to appropriateness of a color scheme for print, monitors, laptops, projectors, photocopying and even color blindness (I’ve once had someone complain about my color schemes after a lecture – just to find out that he’s color blind).
