Coudre Like My Mom July 28, 2010 I’m so excited to post about this! When I met Dana, I fell in love with the skirt she was wearing. She made it herself (obviously) and she showed us how simply she’d shirred the waistband. The next day, during the mystery workshop at Whipstitch, we were encouraged to use thrifted tees. ROBE So this past week was pretty bad blog-wise, my blog and website got attacked with malware. My feed was having issues and subscribers seemed to banish. Happily most of it is fixed now and I am happy to be able to blog again (I didn’t wanted to post anything until I was 100% sure the malware was completely cleaned) And if you saw my site down, that was the reason =] I had this post saved from weeks! so finally here it is! Except that I went on a frogging spree, and now the whole thing is sitting in the "in progress" box (which has a lid, so I don't have to look at them for a while! :P) But since you were promised a pattern, and since this is called "eggbirddesigns" not "eggbirdthefrog", a pattern ye shall receive!! Bra-making Sew Along: Cutting The time has come to cut our bras! By now if you’ve been making tester bras or alterations you probably know your bra pattern inside and out. And that’s a good thing! Understanding a pattern makes sewing so much easier, don’t you think? Before I start cutting, I like to double-check a few things on my pattern: Check the cradle seam to make sure it has enough length for your chosen underwire. Couture This week I tackled a sewing project that truly scared me. A kind friend who is done having kids gave me her new-ish infant car seat. I am so glad I didn't have to buy one, but the old one was a little boyish: And a little boring. And I just couldn't get the idea of recovering it out of my crazy pregnant brain. I remembered how you carry these car seats everywhere for the first six months or so.

Greenberg: Godey's Lady's Book: Fashion, Dress Instructors, Work Godey's Lady's Book Included in every Lady's Book were several pages devoted to fashions, dress patterns for women and children, as well as many patterns and instructions for "work": crotchet, knit, needlework, etc. This is a list of all such images available at this site to date, linked to the images themselves. Recycle your old t-shirts into yarn Are your hands itching to starting crocheting or knitting but you have no yarn at home? Do you have some old t-shirts laying around at home? If your answer is twice yes, than your problem is solved and you can start in no time ;-). Of course you can buy recycled T-shirt yarn in the shop, it has the same thickness as the one you will cut but it will have a different sentimental value. Nowadays we do think more in terms of recycling, well this is an excellent way to start. When searching on the net you will find more ways of 'how to cut your T-shirt into yarn', but for me this video explains it very well.
