Obama Has Now Fulfilled His 4 Big Promises The conservative view of President Obama has straddled two difficult-to-reconcile portraits. One indicts him as a “Reagan of the left,” fundamentally (and, in their view, disastrously) altering the shape of the state. The other casts him as a hapless mediocrity, a Jimmy Carter redux. At the moment, the latter view is more in evidence — just in the last week, columns have appeared with headlines like “Is It Too Late for Obama to Rescue His Legacy?”

zoran rosko vacuum player: Nick Bantock - A beautiful, mysterious story drawn out in real letters and postcards. The story is only heightened by the breathtaking artwork on each page But Griffin had never met a woman named Sabine. How did she know him? How did she know his artwork? Who is she? Oscars shmoscars: Transformers 2 'wins' worst-movie Razzie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was the big "winner"—not at the Oscars, which are handed out tonight—but at the Razzies, otherwise known as the 30th Annual Golden Raspberry Awards, which recognize the worst movies of the year. The Transformers sequel copped Razzies for worst picture of 2009 and two other awards. The Razzies are handed out every year on the eve of the Oscars to poke fun at the worst movies and movie performances of the year. Transformers also snagged Razzies for Michael Bay as worst director and Ehren Kruger, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman for worst screenplay. Transformers actually tied Land of the Lost, with seven nominations each. Astonishingly, Land was nearly shut out in every category.

A Bank's Gift Demonstrates the Power of Small Business Innovation Today on Capitol Hill, I joined leaders of JP Morgan Chase as they announced a five-year, $30 million philanthropic investment to support the pioneering work of American small businesses joining “regional clusters.” Clusters are public-private partnerships that convene a region’s corporations, small businesses, universities, investors and regional economic organizations to achieve synergies and productivity levels that a single company could not. Chase’s commitment is believed to be the largest private-sector contribution to date in support of clusters. SBA was the very first federal agency supporting this regional growth strategy back in 2010. Since then, we’ve played a leading role in interagency efforts to create and support clusters. We’ve provided more than $21 million in government grants and contracts, and we’ve organized forums for cluster leaders to discuss strategies to increase the commercialization of new technologies created by small businesses.

Louisa, Merchandising Planner Creating Personas Workshop Tool Personas are fictitious characters created to embody specific key characteristics of target user groups. Personas allows you to package user research data into sample users that can, in turn, be used to develop use cases for your learning space and to design services. Personas offer many benefits for those undertaking design projects, including: Making assumptions and knowledge about users explicit and thereby giving the team a common language with which to talk meaningfully about usersAllowing the project team to focus on and design for a small set of specific users who are different than the team membersBuilding empathy towards users in a way that reports of qualitative and quantitative data cannot accomplish (Adlin, T., & Pruitt, J. (2010).

Microsoft Lays Off Thousands With Bad Memo Typically, when you're a top executive at a major corporation that is laying off more than 10 percent of your workforce, you say a few things to the newly jobless. Like "sorry." Or "thank you for your many years of service." Or even "we hate doing this, but it's necessary to help the company survive." What you don't do is bury the news of the layoffs in the 11th paragraph of a long, rambling corporate strategy memo. And yet, this was Microsoft honcho Stephen Elop's preferred method for announcing to his employees today that 12,500 of them were being laid off. (18,000 are being laid off companywide; Elop, the former head of Nokia, oversees the company's devices unit, which was hardest hit by the layoffs.)
