Cinnamon Toast Rolls

Cinnamon Toast Rolls
The USDA released its new food pyramid the other day (which is actually a plate now instead of a pyramid), and I am sorely disappointed to report that cinnamon rolls did not appear anywhere on that plate. I think by now most of us know what should be on our dinner plate in terms of healthy, well-rounded nutrient-laden meals, but it is my considered opinion that our breakfast plate should include cinnamon rolls now and then. And not just any cinnamon roll, mind you, but how ‘bout a homemade cinnamon roll hybrid that is a cross between a cinnamon roll and cinnamon toast, is super easy to make and gosh darn delicious. In honor of their ancestry, I call these little gems cinnamon toast rolls, and here’s all you need to make them… Yep. That’s it… some soft white bread, some butter and some cinnamon sugar. Trim the crusts off of the bread Roll the bread really flat Brush both sides of the bread with butter Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar Cinnamon Toast Rolls Click here for a printable recipe

There’s a little something for everyone: the foodies, the purists, the ones who prefer frozen yogurt, the ones who prefer a little alcohol, everyone. Tweny-five options to be exact. Quick and Easy Lemon Cake This is the lemon cake that my Nana usually always makes for me when I go home to California. We both forgot about it during my last visit and I didn’t realize until I got back to Sicily that I hadn’t had my Lemon Jello Cake fix. Luckily, I have the recipe! And lucky for you, I’m going to share it! This is one of the easiest cakes you can make and I will argue that it’s one of the best-tasting cakes you will ever eat. thick, chewy granola bars I know, I know, I just talked up granola bars last September. Waxing on about granola bars twice in six months is just weird, right? I can’t help it, I honestly don’t remember last September. I was 37 weeks pregnant.

Cinnamon Sugar Pull-Apart Bread I’m sorry. I know it’s Monday morning and you probably came here for some pretty pictures of food that you could glance at, and then move on with your day… and here I go thrusting warm, soft cinnamon sugar bread in your face. Deep Dish Fruit Pizza My sister-in-law Missy first introduced me to the concept of fruit pizza years and years ago, and here’s how: she brought one to my house and I proceeded to eat the whole thing. But it was small. And I was nursing. My mammary glands made me do it. Oreo Cookies-Recipe Oreo-Oreo Recipes-Cheese Cupcakes-Oreo Cheesecakes Posted by Grace Massa Langlois on Wednesday, 21st July 2010 I have yet to meet a person who doesn’t like Oreo cookies or Cream Cheesecake Cupcakes. Who could resist cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookies? Not Me! Especially the double-stuffed Oreo cookie, it’s one of the best cookies for dunking into a cold glass of milk. I went out yesterday to do my weekly shop, came home, and before I was able to bring in the first grocery bag Matt was hunting for the cookies and cream ice cream.

to make: cobbler baked in jars I made these for the Seattle Bake Sale for Share Our Strength organized by Frantic Foodie (thanks Keren!). I had so much fun making pies in jars that I figured this was the perfect opportunity to bake something else in jars. This time I used half-pint wide mouth jars, a nice size for a bake sale. (Half pint jars washed and drying.) I used the blueberry cobbler recipe from Baking Illustrated. I was making 24 portions so the first time I tried to divide each recipe between 8 jars (making three total recipes worth).

Homemade Cereal Bars Recipe Homemade cereal grain bars are even tastier than the boxed version, but so much healthier. These are made with oats, flaxseed meal, and honey, and easily made vegan or gluten-free. My kids love nutrigrain and other fruit cereal bars. At first glance, they look like a healthy easy lunchbox option. Many are even organic. no-bake energy bites I probably should have poured a nice stiff drink recipe for you all on this loveliest of lovely tax days. Nutella Mug Cake I have been experimenting with different mug cakes every since I heard about them about a year ago. None of them have been winners. They were either too chewy, too dry, or not sweet enough.
