A due colori. Italian artist Alberto Seveso was born in Milan, but is now working as a freelancer in Portoscuso, Sardinia-Italy. His passion for graphic art started when he was in a young age and he was really fascinated by the graphic of skate decks and the cover of music CD of metal bands. From this passion he started to create his artwork. In his series ‘A due colori’ Seveso experiments with high-speed photography while trying to find a new way to make something beautiful using ink and water. Loving to play with colors and tones, this series embodies the concept of stopping time through ink in the image.

Back in the early 1980s, Dieter Rams was becoming increasingly concerned by the state of the world around him – “an impenetrable confusion of forms, colours and noises.” Aware that he was a significant contributor to that world, he asked himself an important question: is my design good design? As good design cannot be measured in a finite way he set about expressing the ten most important principles for what he considered was good design.

(Sometimes they are referred as the ‘Ten commandments’.) Here they are. Good design is innovative The possibilities for innovation are not, by any means, exhausted. Good design makes a product useful A product is bought to be used. Good design is aesthetic The aesthetic quality of a product is integral to its usefulness because products we use every day affect our person and our well-being. Good design makes a product understandable It clarifies the product’s structure. Good design is unobtrusive Products fulfilling a purpose are like tools. - StumbleUpon. Everynone. All images from the series Fictions. 2007-2010 Between reality and fiction, the Belgian artist-photographer FILIP DUJARDIN recovers the art of collage to create a new language based on the modernist architectural tradition. A few years ago, FILIP DUJARDIN started reconstructing imaginary buildings. Staying near his home in Ghent, he searches out buildings to photograph that will supply the desired textures and edges. Back at the computer in his studio he cuts, pastes, and shapes segments from these building images and compiles them into the form that he envisioned. While DUJARDIN‘s work is mesmerizing on its own, it also taps into a rich history of architecture, both utopian and dystopian and gives a sly commentary on the current state of architecture.

The best form of flattery? Whatever you want to call it, artists have enjoyed riffing on historical paintings for ages. For some, it’s a fun way to learn and explore issues of color, composition, and application of paint by intimately copying from a master. For others, it’s a means to tap into the feelings and emotions already assoctiated with the original image, (for humour or drama.)

John Mattos took on Marcel Duchamp’s mechanically abstracted Nude Descending a Staircase and brilliantly reset it with C3PO. Tim O’Brien hears his master’s robotic voice. Abbott Handerson Thayer, often noted as a painter of angels, punked up a bit by Greg Manchess. Cyril van der Haegen inserts unspeakable evil into N. It’s a tough race to see what has been parodied more: the Mona Lisa, American Gothic, or Napoleon Crossing the Alps. Color Theory 101 - DesignFestival. First impressions are everything. How you look and how you present yourself can determine how you are perceived. The same goes for our design work. The impression that our work gives depends on a myriad of different factors. One of the most important factors of any design is color. Figuring out which colors work well with others isn’t just a matter of chance. Primary Colors Colors start out with the basis of all colors, called the Primary Colors. Secondary Colors If you evenly mix red and yellow, yellow and blue, and blue and red, you create the secondary colors, which are green, orange and violet.

Tertiary Colors Tertiary colors are made when you take the secondary colors and mix them with the primary colors. So, now that you know how colors are made, you can understand how the color combinations on the color wheel model work. Complimentary Colors Complimentary colors are colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel. Analogous Colors Triads Split Complimentary Colors Square Colors. Yulia Brodskaya : Paper Art. Arguably his most interesting project, entitled DRUGS is described as follows: Below, you can view a collection of portraits Saunders drew while under the influence of various substances ranging from cocaine, to marijuana, to DMT.

Each portrait is an astonishing look into the mind of someone tweaked out on drugs, something that your eyes will surely appreciate.
