Structured-light Google Group. Structured-light - Utilities for structured light scanning. Structured light scanning involves projecting a known pattern of light onto a scene, and recovering scene geometry by analyzing distortions of the pattern. This project is about developing utilities for capturing and reconstructing structured light scans, as well as sharing information related to structured light scanning for single-scan and real-time applications. For an introduction to using these tools, check out the Instructable. Structured-light 3D scanner. A structured-light 3D scanner is a 3D scanning device for measuring the three-dimensional shape of an object using projected light patterns and a camera system.[1] Principle[edit] Projecting a narrow band of light onto a three-dimensionally shaped surface produces a line of illumination that appears distorted from other perspectives than that of the projector, and can be used for an exact geometric reconstruction of the surface shape (light section).
