Acordo bem cedo, lá para as 7h30 (ontem bem mais cedo porque fui mordida por uma centopeia que estava na minha cama e não consegui voltar a dormir...) e ainda de camisa de noite, calço os meus ténis, outrora brancos, e vou jardinar ao som do meu podcast preferido: o Radiolab. Rego a relva, podo os arbustos, limpo as folhas secas dos canteiros e arranco as ervas daninhas. Estamos sem jardineiro já há uns meses e o jardim estava uma selva, a relva toda seca e inexistente em alguns sítios.

Ever since I was a child I have LOVED this holiday and the way it is celebrated, but these last years I've been abroad and therefore haven't celebrated it in a traditional way. It turned out that I would not this year either, even though I have moved back to BERGEN ..BUT I still feel that it was celebrated in a very traditional spirit. My sister and FRODE invited ERLEND and me to join them at FRODE's family's cabin in LUSTER in SOGN. I have not been there before, and it turned out that it is the most beautiful ..and NATIONAL ROMANTIC place with steep mountains with snow on them, beautiful fjords and fruit trees in BLOOM. Recipes. At the moment I can’t cook much of italian food (see, I’m in Japan for a couple of months), and I’m far too excited about discovering tofu, nabe, kanten and everything else to even think about tiramisù or spaghetti alla carbonara. But settling down in a new city, discovering day by day markets, products, recipes and inventing new ways to use my (quite poor) kitchen gear made me think I might as well continue writing in English once in a while, since I very much doubt my usual readers could be interested in things as, well, alternative ricecooker uses for instance. I mean, before heading to Japan I didn’t even knew what a ricecooker was in the first place! (after all, you’re supposed to stir your risotto for the whole 17 minutes it takes to get cooked, not to pour raw rice into some futuristic machine and wait untill it’s done :D)

Today I am sharing one of my favorite dessert recipes - lemon bars. These treats are perfect to bring to a shower or brunch, as well as snack on at anytime. These lemon bars are made with a layer of sweet and flaky brown sugar shortbread that is topped with a creamy lemon filling. They are sweet and tangy and all together delicious.

I love “lemony” desserts. It is purely psychological yes, but I feel like I won’t be as full if I go for the lemon dessert. Also, I am a Florida girl so there is always a soft spot for citrus in my heart, not to mention in my belly! Enjoy! Lemon Bars 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature 1 cup (packed) golden brown sugar 2 cups all purpose flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 1/2 cups sugar 4 large eggs 3/4 cup of lemon juice 1 1/2 teaspoons finely grated lemon zest 1/2 cup all purpose flour powdered sugar Preheat oven to 325°F.
