Keeping Silence / Taking a "Vow of Silence" Taking a "vow of silence" is one of the oldest, simplest, and most effective spiritual techniques known.

Keeping Silence - Skillful Means

By voluntarily cutting yourself off from communication with others, you quickly remove yourself from the chaos, distraction, judgments, and neuroses of the world around you. By temporarily suspending communications with others, you create a "sacred container" around you, which helps you to go within. Keeping silence makes you peaceful. It allows you to settle into the now, because language is how our minds focus on past and future. Silence is golden. Stop communicating with others for a specified amount of time. Calculation[edit] In any given year, the impact factor of a journal is the average number of citations received per paper published in that journal during the two preceding years.[1] For example, if a journal has an impact factor of 3 in 2008, then its papers published in 2006 and 2007 received 3 citations each on average in 2008.

The 2008 impact factor of a journal would be calculated as follows: Dictionary of Algorithms and Data Structures. Books. Special Functions. Analysis of Algorithms. All models are wrong... Calculus Textbooks. The author provides this book in PDF format.

As far as I can tell from the somewhat ambiguous notice on his web page, the book is intended to be licensed under the GPL copyleft license. That warms my heart as an open-source enthusiast, but it's slightly strange, for a couple of reasons. First, the GPL is a software license, and is less suitable as a copyleft license for books than the GFDL or a CC license. Also, the source code of the book isn't available (it appears to have been done in LaTeX), which I think makes it legally impossible under the GPL to redistribute the book, whereas the author's intent in GPL-ing it was presumably to make it freely distributable. Biology

Statistics is a major research tool in biology (as in most other areas of natural and social science) so biology questions rely and have led to substantial progress in mathematical statistics and related probability theory. Like in most natural sciences differential equations of various types (and some unique types of euations) arose in biology.
