They were too busy being crazy and taking pictures of it to be bothered with how those pictures would make them look in 80 or 90 years. It's like they're daring us to make sense of them, and once again, we've risen boldly to the challenge. #15. Photo-Realistic Pencil Drawings by Self-Taught Artist Randy Hann. It takes a great artist to show the true power of a pencil, and Newfoundland-based Randy Hann is one such artist.
His breathtaking attention to detail translates into drawings that look more like shot with a professional camera than with a simple pencil.Randy Hann is definitely one of the most talented Canadian artists of our time. The Newfoundland native takes inspiration from the people, wildlife and scenery that surrounds him every day to create spectacular works of art. Born in 1961, Randy says he can always remember being able to draw, even as a young child, but it wasn’t until years later that he started taking his innate abilities seriously. He didn’t attend an art school, but dedicated years to developing and refining his drawing technique. Today, the self-taught artist is internationally-known for his mind-blowing hyperrealistic works.

Check Out the F-117 Cockpit Procedures Trainer in Alamogordo, NM. (Image: John Bezosky Jr. – Twitter @jbezosky) F-117A Nighthawk (or Stinkbug to some) training was unlike normal military fast jet training for a variety of reasons.
For one thing, the Stealth Fighter originated as a black project and even its pilots had no idea what they would be flying until several months into the training program. Pilots selected for ‘Bandit training‘ were already experienced aircrew, which was critical because the F-117 had only one seat and no trainer version of the aircraft was ever built. Discover 10 Unusual Animals & Habitats Across the World. Sometimes we rarely see them, and sometimes their survival depends on that. Abandoned Sea-houses Branch Line in Northumberland. (Image: Susan Calvert via Farne.co.uk) Situated some 45 miles north of Newcastle, the tiny Northumbrian village of North Sunderland may not seem like the most likely place to unearth a long abandoned railway.
But it was through here that a privately built, single track line passed on its way from nearby Chathill Junction to the harbour village of Seahouses. At just four miles long with only a handful of tiny communities to serve, the eponymous North Sunderland Railway, which opened in 1898 on standard gauge track, was never an especially profitable line.
10 Eccentric Transportation Inventions That Didn't Take Off. Urban GhostsA Brief History of Ancient Roman Gladiators. (Image: Jean-Léon Gérôme) Roman gladiators have long been a source of fascination and confusion, often depicted as maltreated slaves drawn from Ancient Rome’s enemies, forced to fight to the death in brutal and blood-curdling displays of mortal combat.
And though such acts certainly occurred, the truth is rather more complex. Today, thanks in large part to Hollywood, gladiators have become pop culture icons with a mythology all of their own. The latest installment of our Past Lives series seeks to dispel the myths, and delve into the facts of how these ancient Roman warriors really lived – and died. Funeral Games. Urban Ghosts8 Creepy Internet Characters that Became Urban Legends. (Image: Hudson Studios via YouTube; The Slender Man) Twenty years ago, we used to sit around campfires to tell each other ghost stories. Today, those campfires still burn, though many of us simply load up our tablets. The internet is a breeding ground for tales of insanity, horror and supernatural terror. At their worst, these stories simply rip-off pre-existing material or try to shock us with senseless gore. Urban Ghosts13 Abandoned Websites (That Are Still Online) (Image: screenshot; bonus site – SpaceJam) The internet has come a long, long way since its inception.
But it wasn’t too long ago that people proudly used AOL email addresses, Angelfire web pages and MySpace accounts. In terms of how fast technology moves, these services are now fairly prehistoric, although the latter has reinvented itself somewhat in recent times. This article features a selection of retro gems from the early days of the internet. They may not have been updated in almost two decades, but nevertheless remain online, lurking in the shadowy corners of the World Wide Web, nostalgic reminders of how fast technology moves.
